Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES The following duties are normal for this position. Complete the daily workload in a timely manner, in compliance with Village policyFollowing direction from the supervisor who will frequently inspect the work during progress as well as upon completion.Clean gutters, culverts, sewers and other drainage structures.Load and unload stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, timber and heavy mechanical equipment; sweep streets, gutters and sidewalks.Perform a variety of other heavy manual work in connection with the maintenance and construction of sidewalks, streets, sewers, landscapes, parks, etc. Assist in digging and bracing sewer and water lines, ditches, make water and sewer traps.Raise and lower manholes, perform rough masonry work, build forms for sidewalks, finish cement, operate a tractor, mower and other equipment.Employees may be assigned to related work as required. Other duties may be required or assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a High School diploma or GED; a valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record; and sufficient ability to communicate effectively (both in oral and written form) with superiors and subordinates. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Employees must have good physical stamina that exhibits itself in the ability to perform manual labor for an extended period of time under varying climatic conditions. Must possess a basic knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks as well as the desire and ability to acquire additional skills. Employees must be able to climb a ladder, lift heavy articles (not to exceed 45lbs without assistance), stand/walk for extended periods of time and bend frequently as part of the daily duties and activities. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying and changing weather conditions, and employee may occasionally be subjected to elevated noise levels from operating machinery. Police Holiday is paid or comp'd at ten (10) hours for holiday except birthday which is at 8 hours. Birthday is an additional paid holiday but must be requested approved by supervisor, and taken in the same week as the birthday occurs.PERSONAL LEAVE TIME:Accrues weekly from hire date at the rate depending on length of time in service. PLT may be used, paid, after six (6) months.
