Discover what it's like to be a part of the Fairbanks Morse Defense team here: Controls Specialist - Pascagoula, MSFairbanks Morse DefenseExciting News!Fairbanks Morse Defense is currently offering:$5,000 sign-on bonus for all newly hired Controls Specialists$5,000 retention bonus after completing 12 months of full-time employmentSummaryThe Controls Specialist (CS) is responsible for installation, commissioning, scheduled, and emergency service on products serviced by Fairbanks Morse Defense, commensurate with appropriate certification.Must establish and maintain excellent rapport with customers, co-workers, and sales representatives.Maintain continuous communication with Regional Offices and direct manager.Must be able to obtain basic safety clearance.Position schedule: Monday-Friday, no nights or weekends.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesRoleConduct installation, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems on FMD engine linesUse experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsDiagnose problems and develop solutions for qualified enginesWork independently on qualified enginesOccasionally assigned to shop duties (machining, part inspections, assembly, testing, warehouse work)TechnicalStay current on Engineering Change Orders, Field Service Change Notices, Service Information LettersDocument work in Service Reports and write Condition Found ReportsSafetyOperate safely according to published safety guidelinesWear appropriate PPE per company policiesReport all work-related accidents or injuries immediatelyComplete annual safety training as scheduledAdministrationProvide accurate and timely reporting (timecards, expenses, mileage, project closures)Obtain and maintain certification based on internal Service Progression RequirementsProvide estimated time of arrival to customers when applicableMaintain company property (vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop)Customer SatisfactionCommunicate effectively with internal and external customersComplete and provide maintenance documentation upon assignment completionStrive for "first time fix" on all assignmentsMaintain customer satisfaction rates per company guidelinesPerformanceMaximize productivity by combining service opportunitiesComplete work efficiently and on scheduleMaintain productive utilization rate per company guidelinesFollow company dress code and safety regulationsAdhere to escalation processes and proceduresCommunicate effectively at all levels within the organizationServe as a role model and lead by exampleConduct yourself with professionalism and high-quality service deliveryManage stressful customer situations with diplomacyPerform all other duties as assignedQualifications and Educational RequirementsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED requiredPrior FMD Associate Controls Specialist experience preferredOne of the following required:Associate Degree in Automotive, Diesel, or Power Generation Technology + 4 years' experience in related field (2 years in electrical/motion controls), or4 years' experience in related field (3 years in electrical/motion controls)Technical SkillsKnowledge of four-stroke engine operating theory (strongly preferred)Understanding of electrical systems and associated hazards (required)Basic understanding of gas compression and related hazards (preferred)Proficiency in electrical test equipment: multimeters, pressure calibrators, signal generators, process metersAbility to read and interpret mechanical and electrical line diagrams and blueprintsDiagnose and repair electrical problemsWorking knowledge of pneumatic, PLC, and electronic engine controls, including:Electrical circuit diagnosis: VDC, 12VDC, 24VDC, 125VDC, 120VAC, 240VAC, 480VAC, 3 phasesAllen Bradley PLC (RSLogix 500 and 5000) or equivalentHMI programming (PanelBuilder 32, FactoryTalk View ME) or equivalentAutomation system diagnosis and troubleshootingEnd devices: RTDs, Thermocouples, 4-20mA sensors, Relays/Solenoids, Magnetic pickups, Hall Effect proximity sensorsOther Skills & RequirementsExperience with standby generators and engine operation/maintenanceStrong organizational and planning skillsExcellent written and verbal communication in EnglishProficiency in Microsoft OfficeStrong mechanical aptitudeValid driver's license and eligibility for company credit cardTravel up to 10% for training purposesMust hold or obtain U.S. Passport within 3 months of hireMust meet NOFORN requirements for access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (proof of U.S. Citizenship required)Physical RequirementsStand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle tools or componentsReach with hands/arms;
