We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.The RoleWe are seeking a Geotechnical Vice President to join our dynamic team in Orlando. In this role, you will lead and manage forensic investigations involving geotechnical engineering failures and claims. The role also includes contributing to marketing and business development efforts and mentoring junior staff by providing technical direction. You'll work closely with attorneys, insurance professionals, property owners, and contractors on a variety of complex projects - ranging from emergency response to litigation support. Experience testifying or serving as an expert witness is preferred, and support will be provided for those interested in developing this skill set.ResponsibilitiesLead or support forensic investigations related to geotechnical failures, damage assessment, and cause/origin studiesConduct field investigations, engineering assessments, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and code reviewsPrepare clear, defensible technical reports and expert opinionsPerform peer reviews and condition assessments, including order-of-magnitude cost estimatesSupervise, mentor, and provide technical direction to junior staffCoordinate interdisciplinary efforts and ensure project delivery meets scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectationsServe as primary client liaison, managing contracts, scoping, and deliveryBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients (attorneys, insurance professionals, contractors, etc.)Lead and support business development initiatives, including industry presentations and participation at eventsDrive growth of the forensic geotechnical practice through pursuit strategy, proposals, and repeat client engagementRequirementsMaster's degree in Geotechnical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; NCEES record preferred15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 10 years in geotechnical designStrong technical writing skills and the ability to express engineering findings clearlyExperience serving as an expert witness preferredAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationallyDemonstrated leadership and project management capabilitiesActive involvement in professional or industry organizationsSelf-starter with strong analytical and communication skillsBenefitsDepending on your employment status, benefits may include:Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, Disability and other voluntary benefitsFlexible Spending Accounts for Medical & ChildcarePaid Time Off, Family Leave for New Parents, Volunteer TimeTuition ReimbursementCommuter Transit (where available)401k retirement savings with Company matching on employee contributions and/or qualified student loan repaymentsFitness ReimbursementAnd other various wellness, diversity/inclusion and employee resource programs and initiativesThornton Tomasetti is proud to be an equal employment workplace.
