If your passion is to make a difference in the lives of others while getting paid for your efforts, look no further, this job is for you!Job DescriptionThe Eligibility Counselor - EC is responsible for screening onsite hospital uninsured patients by bedside and the advancement of accounts of potential eligibility of federal, state and county government assistance programs, as well as hospital financial programs.Primary Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesMeets patients by bedside to determine government program eligibility and creates collaborative teamwork to obtain needed information for application advancementMaintains a large caseload with minimum or no delinquenciesContacts patients and creates collaborative teamwork to obtain needed information for application advancementUses clear, simple language to ensure understanding in English and/or SpanishComplies with all state and federal laws regarding HIPAA and confidentiality requirementsAble to remain focused and productive each day with minimum supervisionDemonstrates respect for all individualsAdheres to ECI's Mission, Vision, and Core ValuesOther duties as assignedRequirementsSoft Skills Needed for the Ideal EC:A compassionate heart and a sincere desire to assist patients during any phase of their application processStrong work ethic demonstrated with excellent outcomesStrong written and verbal communication skillsDesire to provide the best possible experience for our patientsExperience navigating a computer while on the phoneWilling to work and contribute to a team environmentAbility to trouble-shoot problemsListens effectivelyRequired Qualifications:High School diploma / GED (or higher)Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week)Knowledge of Medicaid and SSI programsPrior Experience with HHSC (Medicaid, County Indigent, TANF, SSI) a plusBilingual English/Spanish a plusPhysical and Work Requirements:Long periods of walking, standing, frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, extensive periods working at a computer.Able to work from hospital site M-F 8 am - 4:30 pm.Must be willing and able to take required vaccinations (no Covid vaccine).Employment Practices: ECI is an equal opportunity employer.
