POSITION SUMMARY: Contribute disciplinary expertise to the teaching and development of undergraduate accounting courses within programs that integrate a Christian worldview. Build professional relationships with students by mentoring and advising them on academic progress and career readiness. Provide service to the School of Business as needed. Maintain active engagement in the accounting profession through ongoing professional development. Cultivate professional relationships with graduates, colleagues, and the broader business community.Faculty members support the mission of Bob Jones University by integrating a biblical worldview into teaching, mentoring students in their spiritual and professional development, and communicating the university's doctrinal commitments with clarity and integrity.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Teach undergraduate courses and provide student support.Engage in activities that support continued personal professional growth.Contribute to institutional and program/discipline success.Teaching and Student Learning:Teach undergraduate courses within the assigned discipline, incorporating a Christian worldview consistent with the mission of the university.Plan, develop, and deliver instruction using a variety of teaching methods and materials that support course objectives and address diverse learning styles and educational backgrounds.Assess student learning and progress toward course objectives and provide timely feedback on performance.Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports and documentation within established timelines.Review, evaluate, and recommend textbooks and instructional materials that support course and program objectives.Integrate appropriate technology into instruction and remain open to new instructional approaches that enhance student learning.Teach courses at various times and locations as required by institutional needs.Professional Engagement and Development:Demonstrate expertise in the teaching discipline and remain current with developments in the field.Establish annual professional development goals in consultation with the division chair.Engage in activities that support continued growth in teaching effectiveness and disciplinary knowledge.Participate in evaluation processes including self-assessment and program or school-level review.Institutional Service and Program Support:Participate in activities required to maintain programmatic and institutional accreditation standards.Review, evaluate, and revise curricula and program practices to ensure alignment with professional standards, industry expectations, and higher education guidelines.Participate in scheduled institutional activities such as opening week events, chapel, conference days, and commencement exercises.Contribute to institutional initiatives such as committees, student life activities, faculty selection processes, community education, student recruitment, and special programs as needed.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Official transcripts are required for employment. Unofficial graduate transcripts showing degree conferred and courses completed must be submitted with the application.Education: A master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required. A terminal degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.Professional and Teaching Experience: At least three (3) years of professional work experience in accounting is required, preferably in one or more of the following areas: financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, assurance services, accounting systems, or data analysis. Two (2) semesters of full-time teaching experience in higher education are preferred. Part-time experience will be counted at one-half the rate of full-time experience (e.g., two years of part-time experience equals one year of full-time experience).Communication and Organizational Skills: Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communication. Ability to communicate clearly in the classroom and to interact effectively with students. Strong organizational skills related to teaching preparation, classroom management, and academic responsibilities.Christian Commitment and Professional Conduct: Ability to articulate and model a biblical worldview and integrate biblical principles into the teaching discipline. Demonstrates Christian character and serves as a positive role model for students and colleagues. Maintains professional appearance and conduct.Professional Engagement: Commitment to remaining current in areas relevant to courses taught through ongoing professional development and participation in appropriate professional organizations.An applicant must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
