SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Director of Music, the Coordinator must provide strategic leadership for the Choral program while supporting the wider mission and goals of the University. The Choral program coordinator will work within the Department of Music to ensure a seamless and quality university program. The Coordinator is responsible for all administrative and artistic aspects of the Choral program, including recruiting students, conducting rehearsals and performances of the choral program (Concert Choir and a new Show Choir), and holding regular meetings with the Choral program members. The Coordinator will advocate for the importance of the Choral program within the campus community, as well as the larger Kerrville, Hill Country and statewide music community, and will serve as a role model of the high standards expected of our students. The successful candidate should demonstrate and support a commitment and sensitivity to fostering a culture of respect and equal opportunity.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Using the University's mission and strategic plan as a guideline to develop and direct the Choral programs. Ensure an environment that promotes student safety. Work collaboratively with the music department to monitor progress and eligibility of all students, establish programs and program performance requirements. May teach up to 6 hours per academic semester as appropriate. Service on various campus committees as appointed by the Director of Music. Cultivate positive relationships with students and their families. Develop a positive relationship with and play an active role in university and community events and programs. Establish connections to public/private high school choral programs, TMEA, and TCDA. Work collaboratively with Student Services and Residence Life staff with respect to student needs and any issues related to student behavior. Ensure institutional compliance with the various governing bodies for each program. Work with the music and marketing departments to ensure appropriate and accurate branding information is being disseminated. Ensure the highest ethical, moral, and spiritual standards for all aspects of the University's varsity programs. In coordination with auxiliary services, varsity programs, and Athletics, promote and manage a summer camp program that helps to achieve the recruiting and fundraising goals of the university. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor's degree, with a minimum of 3 years Choir/ensemble teaching experience (Master's preferred) Knowledge of overall operations of a successful Choral music program. Experience in identifying and recruiting students. Plans to establish connections to high school choral programs, TMEA, and TCDA. Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic planning. Experienced manager of people and budgets. Ability to cultivate alumni participation. Proven fundraising experience to support programs. Firm commitment to a student-centered culture and the academic success of students are essential. Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills. Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record - it is preferred that the coach carry a CDL.
