We are seeking a Director of Civil to oversee our civil department in Athens, GA. This professional must have experience within the civil site design industry and be able to lead a team of engineers in addition to driving business within the market. From working with clients and across company departments to site visits to producing plans, you'll be involved in many aspects of the land development process.Roles and Responsibilities:Establish goals and objectives for the department that align with the company's overall mission statementLead and motivate a team of employees to achieve department goalsPlan and coordinate the overall work of the departmentOversee department and ensure that goals and objectives are metConduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructiveProvide staff training, development, and mentoring as neededParticipate in budget development and allocation of funds to ensure that departmental needs are metGuide managers on implementing company initiatives and policies Review and approve employee PTO requests, timesheets, and project billingCreate and implement SOPs that enhance production and the QA/QC processAssess and report department progress to LeadershipOverall responsibility for progress and timeliness of projectsReview project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budgetAnalyze department utilization and profitabilityParticipate in the proposal writing process Actively participate in contract review and approval processAllocate departmental resources to optimize productivity and ROIMaintain awareness of industry and market trendsEnsure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practicesCompany representative in networking, professional groups, and the communityResponsible for client satisfaction, management, and growthContinue to develop professionally by maintaining technical proficiency, expanding licensure footprint, and participating in continuing education opportunitiesMitigate risk in the departmentLead and participate in EOS meetings and processBilling/invoicing & collectionsWork with HR to recruit additional staff as neededSkills:Aligns with company values: Committed, Accountable, Resourceful, Expanding, and Socially ResponsibleExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent managerial, supervisory, and leadership skillsExcellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsExtensive technical knowledge of disciplineStrong understanding of industry standards, business operations, and regulatory requirementsExcellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, acceptance of feedback, and conflict resolution Ability to have difficult conversationsWilling to accept & facilitate change Open-minded and InclusivePromotes a growth mindset and adaptabilityDemonstrates awareness and empathy in a positive mannerProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applicationsBenefits Include: Competitive PayHealth insurance: medical, dental, and visionLife insuranceRetirement Savings Plan (401k) with up to 4% company matchingShort Term DisabilityPaid Holidays and Paid Time OffEmployee referral bonusGenerous parental leave policiesAt W&A Engineering we are Committed to building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive community.
