Machine Operator Trainee – QC Slitting (2nd Shift) Location: San Diego, CA 92123 Duration: 6-Month Seasonal Assignment (03/09/2026 – 09/09/2026) Shift: 2nd Shift | 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM Schedule: 40 hours per week Pay Rate: $18.00/hour + $1.00 shift premium Employment Type: W-2 Contingent Overtime: Based on business need Position Overview The Machine Operator Trainee – QC Slitting supports the setup, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of slitting machines to ensure high-quality production of finished materials. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who are detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment. The position plays a key role in maintaining production efficiency and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot slitting machines Inspect finished goods and assess material quality and usability Prepare slitting documentation, core tags, labels, and quality records Assist with packaging materials, palletizing, and material movement Support training and supervision of less experienced operators Communicate machine and production status during shift transitions Follow standard operating procedures, safety regulations, and housekeeping policies Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives Identify defects and make sound quality-based decisions Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Strong math skills related to manufacturing processes Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of college coursework Four years of military service Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience Knowledge of film construction, winding techniques, shipping procedures, or metallizing processes Work Environment & Additional Details True temporary/seasonal assignment (maximum 6 months) PPE provided (safety shoes, high-visibility vest, safety glasses, etc.) Manufacturing environment with active production equipment Opportunity for hands-on technical skill development
