Job Description

Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with at least 2 years of experience in the construction industry to support daily accounting operations. This role requires hands-on experience with construction accounting practices, including job costing, progress billing, and cost tracking. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Key Responsibilities Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger entries and reconciliations Maintain and reconcile job cost reports for active construction projects Track project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead Support progress billing (AIA billing), including schedules of values and lien waivers Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor payments Reconcile bank and credit card accounts Prepare and review monthly financial reports Assist with month-end and year-end close Support payroll accounting, including certified payroll where applicable Help ensure compliance with contract requirements, retainage, and reporting deadlines Assist with sales tax, use tax, and other regulatory filings Work with project managers to resolve cost discrepancies and billing issuesRequired Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the construction industry Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and progress billing Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 100 Contractor, Viewpoint, Procore, QuickBooks Construction, or similar) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, reconciliations, basic analysis) Solid understanding of GAAP principles Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsPay Range $28 to 33 based on expeierncePreferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Experience with AIA billing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting Familiarity with union payroll and certified payroll reporting Experience working with subcontractor compliance and lien releasesSoft Skills & Attributes Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Problem-solving mindset with attention to accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team Professional and reliable with a high level of integrity
