Diesel Engine Mechanic

Norton Energy Drilling is currently looking to hire an experienced diesel engine mechanic to service the company's numerous engines powering its fleet of drilling rigs.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose engine problems and make onsite repairsAdhere to all Company safety policies and proceduresOverhaul engines and engine components in shop facility and maintain appropriate spare part inventoryRespond to downtime in a timely mannerTrain and work with rig personnel on proper engine operation and routine maintenanceInspect working rigs for proper engine operation and complete any necessary repairs Provide recommendations for improved engine performance and longevity Knowledge and SkillsExcellent working knowledge of the most popular diesel engine makes with the ability to diagnose problems and make field repairs.Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods of timeGood communication skills both written and verbalRead and interpret schematic diagrams both hydraulic and electricalGood working knowledge of hydraulic systemsMust have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordExperiencePrevious oilfield experience preferredThree years working with Caterpillar 3500 series enginesWork ScheduleLiving in Lubbock area: Monday through Friday with every other weekend on call Living outside Lubbock area: 14/14Work vehicle and cell phone providedBenefitsBenefit eligibility is active the first day of the month after a 60-day grace period, and includes:Group medical insurance with dependent coverage availableDental and vision insurance available 401KLife insurance and long-term disability
