This leadership role is responsible for overseeing a group of survey crew chiefs and technicians delivering high-quality surveying and geospatial services throughout Delaware and Maryland, while also providing technical and strategic support to the firm's national Reality Capture team.This role offers an opportunity to lead and shape a growing surveying practice within a collaborative, forward-thinking organization. The successful candidate will influence technical direction, mentor future leaders, expand innovative services, and play a key role in advancing Verdantas' survey offerings.The ideal candidate is a client-focused, technically strong, and growth-minded leader who brings a balance of people leadership, business development acumen, and advanced surveying expertise. This position plays a critical role in strengthening client relationships, developing talent, and advancing innovative survey and reality capture services across the region.What You'll Do:Practice & Team LeadershipLead and manage a team of survey crew chiefs, technicians, and support staff across multiple offices and project sitesFoster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performance team cultureProvide mentorship, coaching, and professional development to advance technical and leadership skillsSupport hiring, onboarding, workload planning, and succession planning for the survey groupClient Management & Business DevelopmentServe as a primary client liaison for key surveying and geospatial accounts in Delaware and MarylandBuild and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clientsSupport and lead business development efforts, including scoping, pricing, proposals, and interviewsIdentify opportunities to expand services and grow repeat workTechnical Leadership & Quality OversightProvide technical oversight and quality control for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, and utility surveysSupport and integrate Reality Capture services such as terrestrial scanning, mobile mapping, UAV/LiDAR, and photogrammetryEstablish and reinforce best practices, standards, and workflows for survey and reality capture deliverablesEnsure compliance with state licensure requirements, safety standards, and QA/QC proceduresOperational & Performance ManagementManage group performance related to financial results, utilization, backlog, and client satisfactionCollaborate with the Mid-Atlantic Survey Leader on annual business planning and staffing forecastsPromote continuous improvement through technology adoption and process efficiencyWhat You Bring:Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Delaware and/or Maryland (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe)10+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilitiesDemonstrated experience managing survey teams and overseeing complex surveying projectsProven ability to build client relationships and contribute to business development effortsStrong understanding of field operations, CAD/GIS workflows, and survey data managementKnowledge of and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (2018 or newer), Trimble Business Center, ArcGISWell-versed in survey-related technology and equipment (Robotic Total Stations, GPS, Data Collectors)Knowledge of and understanding of plan preparation (i.e. topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA Surveys, base mapping, etc.)Knowledge of the principles of performing surveys: leveling, traversing, metes and bounds surveys, bathymetric survey, etc.Strong knowledge of survey law (legal descriptions), cost estimating, survey research, and survey task schedulingPreferred Qualifications:Multi-state licensure or experience working across the Mid-Atlantic regionExperience supporting or delivering Reality Capture and advanced geospatial servicesFamiliarity with survey data integration into engineering and design workflowsExperience in a consulting engineering or multidisciplinary firm environmentSalary Range:The compensation range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000, with final compensation determined based on years of experience, qualifications, and licensing status.Benefits:Flexible Work Environment Paid Parental Leave Medical Dental Vision Life and AD&D Insurance Short-Term and Long-Term Disability 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off + HolidaysVerdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization.
