City of Temple TerraceSTARTING SALARY: $19.21 - $21.13 per hourPOSITION: Utilities Maintenance I - WaterPOSITION NO: 7.166DEPT: UtilitiesThis is semi-skilled and heavy manual work involving the installation, maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of water and sewer distribution systems, meters, hydrants, lift stations, wells, and treatment plant facilities. Employee assists the Utility Maintenance II or the Utility Services Technician II and other Utility Divisions. Must be capable of independently performing his/her duties. Employee may be required to work weekends, holidays, after-hours, and on-call duty.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Abilities and SkillsKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices associated with mechanical equipment and machinery.Knowledge of the tools, materials, machinery, and equipment used to install, maintain, and repair water mains, sewer mains, service lines, meters, and other water and sewer distribution system components.Ability to maintain buildings and grounds, or ability to learn within six months of employment.Ability to learn methods used to maintain mechanical equipment within six months of employment.Ability to physically perform assigned duties; perform heavy manual work in all weather conditions.Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver bulky and heavy materials; lift objects up to 75 pounds and routinely lift up to 50 pounds overhead.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to obtain water or wastewater training certifications. Training, Certification, and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED.Experience in general maintenance and repair work.Minimum of one year experience in water distribution system maintenance.Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
