Z Domus Designs is an acclaimed interior design firm based in Malvern, PA, specializing in high-end new builds and full-scale renovations. Known for our design-meets-construction approach, we create clarity between design vision and construction execution, partnering closely with builders, trades, and clients to deliver timeless, thoughtfully executed homes.Our team works out of a newly expanded 4,500+ square foot studio, designed to support creativity, collaboration, and focused work. The studio environment allows designers to work closely with their peers, review drawings and materials together, and engage in hands-on problem-solving that strengthens both design quality and technical execution.We are seeking a full-time Associate Project Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who loves the doing side of design - translating ideas into precise, buildable documentation - and who takes pride in accuracy, follow-through, and accountability.Position Summary The Associate Project Designer is a junior-to-mid-level interior design role focused on translating design intent into precise, buildable documentation- while actively contributing design judgement throughout the process. This role is ideal for an interior designer who enjoys the technical side of the profession and takes pride in accuracy, coordination, and execution, but who also understands aesthetics, proportion, materiality, and interior architectural detailing. While this position does not lead client presentations or concept development, it does require design thinking, spatial awareness, and the ability to make thoughtful design decisions within an established framework.This is not a pure production or drafting role. Successful candidates will demonstrate both interior design sensibility and technical proficiency. This is not a concept-driven or client-led role. It is best suited for someone who enjoys implementation, technical problem-solving, and detail-oriented work, and who is excited to grow their skills within a collaborative, fast-paced design firm.Key ResponsibilitiesInterior Design & Technical SupportProduce and revise interior design and construction documentation including plans, elevations, details, and schedules Translate interior design concepts into clear, accurate, and buildable drawings Contribute design judgement related to layout, proportion, detailing, and material transitionsSupport interior architectural elements such as cabinetry, millwork, built-ins, tile layouts, ceiling details and custom details Apply design intent thoughtfully when resolving technical constraints or field conditions Incorporate redlines, markups, and feedback from senior designers, builders and consultantsMaintain accuracy, consistency, and organization across drawing sets Software & DocumentationUtilize technical software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and/or Bluebeam (Proficiency in one or more is required)Implement revisions efficiently while maintaining drawing integrityFollow established internal drawing standards, templates and internal file organization systemsConstruction & Project Coordination (Support Role)Support coordination between interior design documentation and construction requirementsAssist senior designers with constructability reviews, builder feedback and field coordinationParticipate in occasional site visits to better understand field conditions and executionObserve construction progress to strengthen technical and design understanding Materials & Sections SupportAssist with documentation related to materials, finishes and interior architectural selectionsMaintain accurate internal records of specifications and design decisions Team CollaborationWork closely with senior designers and project teamsParticipate in internal coordination and review meetings Ask questions, flag discrepancies, and seek clarityContribute positively to a collaborative, professional studio cultureQualificationsExperience3-5 years of experience in interior design requireArchitectural experience is acceptable only if it includes substantial interior design scopeWorking knowledge of residential construction and interior detailingDemonstrated experience producing interior design drawings and documentation Technical SkillsProficiency in at least one technical platform: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or BluebeamAbility and willingness to learn additional software and internal systemsStrong attention to detail, organization and follow-throughPersonal AttributesReliable, organized and execution-focusedComfortable working within established processes and standardsReceptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvementTeam-orientated, professional, and accountable Appreciates beauty and thoughtful design, even in technical workCompensation & GrowthStarting salary: $60,000+, commensurate with experience and skill setFull-time position with benefits in accordance with company policyOpportunity for growth into expanded responsibilities including materials exposure, site coordination, and increased project ownership as skills developCompensation and role scope reviewed as responsibility and performance grow Who This Role Is ForThis role is a great fit for someone who:Is trained in interior design and enjoys technical executionTakes pride in producing accurate, coordinated drawingsCan think like a designer while working through construction detailsUnderstands that design decisions impact construction outcomesThrives in a fast-paced, collaborative studio environment Values accountability, clarity and follow-throughSomeone who lives within 30 miles of Malvern, PA Who This Role Is NOT ForThis role is likely not the right fit if you:Are seeking a concept-only or creative director roleWant to lead client presentations or own projects independentlyPrefer purely architectural or drafting-focused work without interior design involvementAre uncomfortable with revisions, redlines, or detailed documentationAre seeking freelance, remote-only, or short-term If you're ready to join a team where your work truly matters, we'd love to hear from you and welcome you to our growing team as an Associate Construction Designer!
