BARBACK JOB SUMMARYThe barback position is responsible for supporting the bartenders' direct customer service in a professional and responsive manner. While the barback does not take direct beverage orders from guests, the barback is responsible for interacting with the guests in a professional and courteous manner and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests as directed by the bartenders. The position is responsible for maintaining the bar areas in a clean and organized condition.BARBACK ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a positive, high, well-balanced energy level throughout the entire shiftHave strong interpersonal communication skills in order to greet guests, answer guest questions and address guest concerns in a warm, professional, and accommodating mannerMaintain a clean and well stocked bar by filling ice wells, providing back up mixers and liquor, peeling, slicing, and pitting fruit, washing and stacking glassware, stocking beer, and taking out the trash as directed by the managers on duty and the bartenders on dutyExhibit consistently dependable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy conductProvide exemplary guest service on a consistent basisMaintain bar presentation, bottles, and glasses in a clean, organized, attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beveragesEnsure all glasses, flatware and dishware are returned to their area and are cleaned and ready for next useEnsure all drink and operating supplies are replenished frequentlyPerform all service in compliance with all ABC laws and Company policies that relate to the service of alcoholic beverages and the prohibition against over-service, serving intoxicated patrons and serving minorsEnsure proper set up and break down of stations before and after operating hours and assist in set up and break down for all private eventsComplete any and all assigned cleaning duties, including stocking and organizationBARBACK SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITYKnowledge of Teamwork time keeping systemAbility to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public, and coworkersProficient verbal communication skillsAbility to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environmentStrong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfactionStrong knowledge of bar equipmentKnowledge of proper food handling requirementsKnowledge of bar and kitchen itemsBasic mathematical skillsKnowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of venueQUALIFICATION STANDARDSEducationHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent preferredExperienceMinimum of two years' experience in a fast-paced restaurant/barMust be at least 18 to meet minimum age requirement of the State of Tennessee to serve alcoholic beveragesLicenses or CertificatesFood Handlers Card preferredABC Server PermitCPR certification and/or First Aid training preferredGROOMINGAll employees must wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Company's grooming standards.
