Position Type: Elementary School TeachingDate Posted: 3/12/2026Location: LASECDate Available: 08/2026Closing Date: asapDistrict: Lockport Area Special Education CooperativeEnglish Learner (EL) Teacher provides specialized instruction and language development support to students identified as English Learners across multiple school sites within the cooperative. The teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to ensure EL students have equitable access to curriculum and achieve English language proficiency and academic success.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student SupportProvide direct English language development instruction aligned with the WIDA English Language Development Standards.Deliver instruction using push-in, pull-out, and small-group models based on student needs.Differentiate instruction to support students at varying levels of English proficiency.Support EL students in accessing grade-level curriculum and content standards.Assessment & Progress MonitoringCoordinate with the resident and housing districts regarding ACCESS testing Administer and interpret required language proficiency assessments, including ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs and WIDA Screener.Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of language development.Use assessment data to guide instruction and intervention strategies.CollaborationCollaborate with general education and special education teachers to implement effective strategies for EL students in the classroom.Participate in student support teams, IEP meetings when appropriate, and problem-solving teams.Provide consultation and professional support to staff regarding best practices for multilingual learners.Compliance & DocumentationMaintain compliance with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and federal EL program requirements.Develop and maintain Individual Language Plans (ILPs) or required program documentation.Assist with EL program reporting and student data management.Family & Community EngagementCommunicate with families regarding student progress and available supports.Support culturally responsive practices and promote inclusive learning environments.Travel ResponsibilitiesTravel between assigned district schools to provide EL services.Maintain organized schedules and communication with multiple school teams.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's Degree in Education or related fieldValid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)Endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual EducationKnowledge of WIDA standards and assessments (can be trained)Strong collaboration and organizational skillsPreferredMaster's Degree in TESOL, ESL, or related fieldExperience supporting multilingual learners across grade levelsExperience working in multiple school settings and with students of various abilitiesExperience working with the special needs populationSkills & CompetenciesKnowledge of second language acquisitionCultural responsiveness and equity-focused practicesStrong communication and collaboration skillsData-driven instructionAbility to manage schedules across multiple schoolsWorking ConditionsTravel between district school buildings is required
