Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building. This role reports to the Business Director.Position SummaryThe Real Estate Paralegal will provide organizational and practice specific assistance to attorneys in the Real Estate Department in all stages of real estate transactions from pre- to post-closing duties.Demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities and work in an organized, efficient manner at any given time. Supports the department with general administrative duties and special projects. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAssists in drafting, managing and organizing various documents related to real estate transactions, including escrow instructions, title and survey review, entity formations, UCC searches, local transfer requirements and due diligenceUtilizes, creates or establishes procedures to manage large, complex transactions; attends closings and manages closing room; coordinates workflow and manages and controls execution of closing documents; tracks, obtains and organizes pre- and post-closing documents to assure performance of obligationsDrafts closing documents including, but not limited to, basic agreements and third-party consents; compiles information and prepares schedules and exhibits to agreementsAssists with post-closing matters including, but not limited to, mailings, closing binders and transfers agreementsManages the preparation and filing of various documents, including amendments and closing documents, as well as preparation of opinions for partner approvalServes as a mentor to and provides leadership and training for mid- and entry level paralegals and paralegal clerksMaintains timely and accurate timekeeping recordsAssists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsSkills & CompetenciesAbility to communicate professionally and interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including management staff and support staffAbility to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger contextDemonstrated attention to detail, reliability and ability to learn new technology quicklyExcellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervisionFlexibility and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demandsPosition also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlinesEducation & Prior ExperienceBachelor's Degree required, Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience considered.To comply with California Business & Professional Code §6450, applicants must meet one of the four categories to be a paralegal and must be able to prove qualifications when necessary.Certification as a Paralegal is a plus, particularly through the ABA, NALA, and NFPA.Minimum of 8 or more years of real estate paralegal experience within a law firm with demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within real estate practice areaTechnologyProficiency with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Concordance, Summation, and Live NoteComputer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OutlookExceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quicklyThe expected pay range for this position is:$56.41 to $64.10 per hourActual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
