American Heritage Schools of Broward County is currently accepting applications for Tutors.POSITION OVERVIEW The Tutor is responsible for helping students learn and understand new concepts and complete assignments. You will work directly with students to assist them in gaining a better understanding of concepts taught in the classroom.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate mastery of content knowledgeEnsure a high-quality learning experience; plan and implement learning tasks:Curate and design resources and incorporate instructional technologies aligned with learning outcomesAssist students individually in building core skills for the requested subject areaHelping students understand educational concepts, complete assignments, and prepare for assessmentsAssist students in achieving their classroom/subject matter goals by providing the following:Supplemental instructionPreparing instructional materials to support their classworkEvaluating their understanding of the course or subject area as time progressesDifferentiate and modify learning tasks according to student need; implement accommodations as directedDemonstrate caring and respect in interactions with studentsSECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Communicate updates to the director, classroom teacher(s) and families of the student's progress. Provide timely and relevant feedback to students and parentsMandatory pieces of training to attend and complete such as:CybersecurityChild Abuse PreventionCustomer ServiceSafety and SecurityEtc.QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree (Minimum Requirement)Valid Teaching License/Subject Area Certification Retirees and professionals within a related field3+ years of teaching or tutoring experienceGifted, AP Certifications, ESOL, ESE, Reading Specialist, Orton Gillingham, (Preferred)SKILLS & ABILITIES Reliable professional with excellent written and verbal communication skillsIs comfortable with different school based learning systems and online textbooksCan proficiently use digital platforms for learningAbility to personalize lessons based on student capabilitiesExhibit subject matter expertise by communicating the materials and skills to students in an approachable wayComfortable and proficient with educational technology; flexible in using different online platformsWORK ENVIRONMENTFlexible schedule based on your availability and client demand5 days a week7:00 am - 6:00 pm EST (weekdays)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerBENEFITSThis position is not eligible for benefits due to part-time status.OTHERAdvertising to clients and billing goes through our program.
