These four entities are:Forestry & Utility DivisionEnvironmental DivisionTechnology & Innovation DivisionSustainability DivisionJOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Specialist I is responsible for participating in a wide range of projects which may include Asbestos Inspections, Asbestos Abatement Observations, IAQ Investigations, and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:Conducting industrial hygiene assessments for chemical and noise exposuresConduct research, complete reviews, and compile reportsSite visits to include field sampling, data collection, field equipment operation, and other field activities associated with environmental projectsWith support and guidance from Environmental Specialist II/III and Senior Environmental Specialists, works independently on projects ranging from small to medium and assists senior staff on larger projectsMaintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetingsSupport, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's and Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownershipComply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and proceduresOTHER DUTIES: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Position will require occasional travel30%-50% travel including some overnight travel within the United States and occasional nights/weekends may be requiredJOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or similar field. In the absence of a degree, equivalent combination of education, training, or experience0-2 years' experience in the environmental fieldMust be capable of working while wearing a negative pressure respirator without restrictionProficient with the Microsoft Office products, including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and ExcelStrong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and time management skillsBe organized and detail orientedDemonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environmentExperience with building systems and mapping softwarePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Iowa Asbestos Inspector License (if not held, must be able and willing to obtain)40-hour HAZWOPER certification (if not held, must be able and willing to obtain)Certifications within the fields of asbestos, lead-based paint, radon, and OSHAPrior experience in consultingExperience with building systems and mapping softwarePHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift to 50 pounds, on occasionAbility to work in a variety of weather conditions in outdoor and indoor environmentsMust be comfortable utilizing hand tools and ladders to perform inspection activitiesEocene Environmental Group, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
