Position Type: Custodial/Maintenance/CustodianDate Posted: 3/16/2026Location: Warren County Career CenterDate Available: ASAPClosing Date: Until Filled District: Warren County Career CenterPOSITION: Custodian REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities or DesigneeEMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, 2nd shift, 257 days, 40 hours per week, FLSA Non-ExemptQUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalentDemonstrates knowledge of proper cleaning and other custodial techniquesDemonstrates ability to operate maintenance equipment (snow plow, salt spreader, hydraulic lift and various hand tools)Demonstrates ability to interpret and communicate information found on Safety Data SheetsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong organizational and technology skillsMust pass a criminal background checkHold a valid Ohio Driver's LicenseGENERAL DESCRIPTION: The custodian maintains a clean working environment for all students, staff and visitors, ensuring all areas are safe. This work will be completed according to required safety processes to support the achievement of the district's mission and vision.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Cleans and sanitizes bathroomsCleans, mops, washes, buffs and vacuums floorsEmpties trashRemoves recycling materialsMaintains outside walk areas, including sweeping debris and washing walkwaysMaintains grounds by keeping them free of rubbishCleans and polishes fixturesTracks supplies and recommends orders to Warehouse ClerkCleans windows and doorsDusts and vacuums furnitureComplies with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areasAssumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activitiesRemoves snow and ice when needed, shovels and salt walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriateMoves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activitiesOTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:Is professional and courteous at all timesServes as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.Demonstrates a willingness to acquire knowledge and skills to meet new challengesMaintains up-to-date knowledge of technology utilized by the districtIs punctual and thorough in the implementation of assigned dutiesTakes precautions to ensure staff and student safetyMaintains confidentiality of student information and recordsPerforms all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designeeADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:Occasional: Exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, lifting (10-20 pounds) of supplies and materials. Duties may require exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes.Periodic: Exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures from program environment, irritating and hazardous chemicals, fumes, and unruly children and adults.Frequent: Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, stooping and reaching for items.
