JOB GOAL: The Assistant Director of Athletics provides administrative support to the District Director of Athletics in the planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of interscholastic athletic programs for middle and high schools. Key responsibilities include overseeing middle school athletics and coordinating district athletic media, communications, and promotional efforts.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (11.50) month (230 days) contract, Pay 804 Grade 123, plus benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on education and experience. FLSA: NonExemptACCOUNTABILITY:Reports to the District Director of Athletics. QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet Arkansas certification requirements. Degree in Sports Management with a major in Physical Education and/or courses in the organization and administration of athletic programs is highly desirable. Experience as an administrator, athletic director, teacher, and coach is preferred. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to write routine reports and manage budgets, and oversee communications and promotions. Demonstrated speaking ability before administrators, staff, parents, students and the public. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements of duties and responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Assists the District Athletic Director in supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the District's policies and applicable laws. Assists with the selection and evaluation of all coaching personnel, including school athletic directors/coordinators. Provides professional development and support to school-based athletic directors, head coaches, assistant coaches, and volunteer coaches. Ensures compliance with all Arkansas Activities Association rules and policies governing school athletics. Oversees and coordinates middle school athletic programs, schedules, staff, officials, and related logistics. Supports evaluation of effectiveness of school and district athletic programs. Ensures that all coaches, volunteer coaches, and student athletes meet qualifications for participation in school sports. Represents LRSD in matters of interscholastic athletics with the Arkansas Activities Association and secondary leagues as directed. Oversees and manages District Athletic Media, promotion, social media presence, and public communications for athletics. Coordinates training and monitoring of all athletic department platforms and communication tools. Oversees approval for use of LRSD athletic facilities by outside entities. Develops, implements, and evaluates rules and regulations governing conduct of athletic activities. Establishes and enforces physical, academic, and training requirements for athlete eligibility. Supports administration of the athletic budget and assists with purchasing/distribution of athletic supplies, materials, and uniforms. Coordinates maintenance and upkeep of LRSD athletic facilities and fields. Ensures accurate recordkeeping for coaches, athletes, volunteers, equipment, uniforms, and media/promotional materials. Performs other duties as assigned by the District Director of Athletics. Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted period and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
