Koniag Operations Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Safety Specialist "as needed basis" to support KOS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.Koniag Operations Services, LLC is currently recruiting a qualified Safety Specialist to work on an "as needed" basis to fill in for staff vacations, sick leave, and other absences at our government customer location in Washington DC. This on-call position will provide essential environmental, health, and safety support to maintain continuity of operations at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) facility. The successful candidate must be willing to work day, evening and night shifts.Position Type:Temporary/On-Call (Variable Hours)Qualifications:Education and Experience:B.S./B.A. in chemistry, engineering, environmental science, industrial hygiene, safety, occupational health, or related scientific fieldMinimum of 1-2 years of experience in environmental or health and safety industryCurrent HAZWOPER training as specified by 29 CFR 1010.120 Special Requirements:Must successfully pass a U.S. Government Security Clearance (Public Trust) background checkMust be a US CitizenAbility to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writingKey Responsibilities:Safety Documentation and Compliance:Issue hot work permits and confined space entry permitsUpdate and maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) recordsPerform powered industrial truck operator assessmentsMaintain electronic and paper document filing systemsComplete electronic injury/illness investigation reportsMonitor compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 regulations and DCF Environmental Management System PoliciesTechnical Support and Inspections:Conduct safety, health, environmental, and fire prevention inspections in production and non-production areasConduct daily visits to production areas to monitor EHS conditionsPerform exposure monitoring for occupational stressors (noise, dust, chemicals, radiation)Conduct powered industrial truck (PIT) operator assessmentsAssist with EMS Internal Audits against ISO14001:2015Incident Response and Investigation:Investigate and document incident reports and accidents immediately upon notificationReview video recordings for accident investigationsRespond to employee injury/illness reports, near misses, and EHS concernsDocument and track employee injuries and safety incidentsUse CORITY database for injury/illness tracking and reportingDocumentation and Reporting:Provide written inspection reports with violations, photos, and recommended corrective actionsMaintain spreadsheets of safety incidents and certified PIT operatorsPrepare quality reports on facility conditions requiring maintenanceSubmit work requests for safety-related repairs as neededAdditional Duties:Support evacuation drill planning and evaluationAssist with equipment-specific energy control procedures developmentProvide inventory management for safety supplies and equipmentSupport special projects as requestedMay work evening and midnight shifts as requiredOther Qualifications:Knowledge and Skills:Technical specialization in Environmental Management, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational HealthKnowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standardsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic database managementExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to prepare accurate reportsProfessional, organized, and efficient work habitsPhysical Requirements:Able to lift and carry up to 50 poundsCapable of standing, sitting, reaching, and handling objects with handsMay be exposed to chemicals and repetitive motionsOur Equal Employment Opportunity PolicyThe company is an equal opportunity employer.
