GENERAL SUMMARY:The Facilities Assistant supports our facilities maintenance team in ensuring the proper upkeep of our buildings, grounds and equipment. As a key member of our maintenance team, the Facilities Assistants primary function is general housekeeping, and fulfilling various assigned duties to support the maintenance program initiatives. The Facilities Assistant is responsible for keeping the organization's buildings and grounds clean, organized and well maintained. This includes performing routine cleaning tasks, event preparations, and addressing or communicating any issues as they arise. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Perform duties as prescribed by the Facilities Manager.Assist the Facilities Manager in ensuring the general maintenance and upkeep of agency buildings, facilities, equipment, vehicles and grounds; purchasing and maintaining supplies under the direction of the Facilities Manager.General cleaning duties throughout the Agency, such as; trash removal, sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, kitchen and restroom cleaning. Potential for landscaping and gardening, stripping and waxing floors, painting, snow removal, light duty maintenance tasks. Monitor and maintain supplies needed for general cleaning duties.Record and maintain documentation of all maintenance work, equipment and vehicle use.Participate in the completion of the annually required hours of continuing professional education.Adhere to Agency policies and procedures.Support the goals of the Agency mission.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:High School Diploma or General Education DegreeThree years experience in maintenance or facility operations.Ability to operate tractors, landscape equipment, snow removal equipment and various other power tools relative to carpentry, plumbing and electrical maintenance; or ambition to learn.Ability to lift 50 pounds (equipment, tools, etc.)Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to perform record keeping and documentation.Working knowledge of policies and procedures specific to maintenance and housekeeping functions.Ability to work collaboratively within a team.Knowledgeable regarding state, county and city regulating bodies; with special emphasis on regulations pertaining to building, electrical, plumbing and fire codes.Ability to display cultural competence and sensitivity to the populations we service by responding respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, socioeconomic characteristics, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors.WORKING CONDITIONSGeneral office and outdoor environment.Local travel as required fulfilling essential functions of the position.
