We empower students and families to tailor their educational experiences while fostering curiosity, independence, and lifelong learning.What does it look like to be an OpenEd Teacher?OpenEd Teachers play a key role in supporting students through their educational journey. Teachers work directly with students and families to provide encouragement, accountability, and individualized support while collaborating with colleagues across the program. Teachers serve in primary and secondary roles based on student and program needs. While specific assignments may shift over time, the core responsibilities of an OpenEd Teacher remain consistent. Teachers should expect regular synchronous work with students, ongoing communication with students and parents, and grading responsibilities, aligned with courses or program requirements.ResponsibilitiesStudent Support, Instruction & CollaborationProvide weekly accountability and encouragement for studentsWork synchronously with students in 1:1, small-group, or large-group settingsMentor and tutor students enrolled in assigned coursesCreate engaging lessons, activities, or learning opportunitiesTailor resources and support to meet individual student needsIdentify at-risk students and coordinate appropriate routes to interventionCommunicate with parents to provide guidance and supportAttend IEP meetings as needed and collaborate with relevant stakeholdersCollaborate with other teachers to share expertise and support students across the programComplete grading and related instructional responsibilities, as applicableProgram & Team ContributionServe in both primary and secondary roles, contributing to different areas of the programParticipate in a positive, collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on student successRequired Skills & QualificationsCurrent teaching certification in KansasExceptional verbal and written communication skillsStrong understanding that every child is unique and benefits from individualized learningKind, organized, patient, and a dependable communicatorFamiliarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.)Confidence in the ability to learn various online tools, systems, and programsAbility to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervisionAccess to a smartphone, high-speed internet, computer, and webcamEligible to work in the U.S. (but can live/work from any pre-approved location)PreferredExperience in non-traditional educational programsSchedule & AvailabilityAbility to maintain a regular schedule of 25-27 hours per weekAvailability during core business hours (10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. MT)Synchronous responsibilities may include meetings with students, families, or groups, and will vary based on assigned rolesAdditional Information:Hourly pay starts at $22/hr Part-time benefit eligible employees are offered dental, vision, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, voluntary life insurance, retirement (upon meeting requirements), and paid holidays.Applications will be kept on file until a position becomes availableOrientation, self-guided training, and ongoing support will be providedReady to Join Our Team?
