Job Description

The Sr. Manager, Digital Design reports to the Sr. Director, Product Management and plays a key role in shaping and delivering client‑centric digital experiences across the organization's portfolio of retirement and custody products. This role blends strategic design leadership with hands‑on execution-leveraging user experience (UX) research, modern design methods, and cross‑functional collaboration to create intuitive, elegant, and scalable digital solutions. The Sr. Manager Digital Design contributes to product vision, evolves design standards, mentors designers, and partners closely with Product, Technology, Marketing, and stakeholders across the business to ensure cohesive, user‑centered experiences. This role is responsible for translating complex business requirements and user insights into thoughtful designs, prototypes, and frameworks that support both customer satisfaction and business outcomes. * Strategic Thinking: Help drive strategy by conducting product and competitive research while providing quick and clear value add to the business. * Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, such as product managers, marketing, and engineering, to ensure effective coordination and integration of design efforts. * User-Centric Design: Champion user-centered design principles and methodologies, conducting user research, testing, and feedback analysis to inform design decisions and improve the overall customer experience. * Quality Assurance: Implement design review processes to maintain high-quality standards, conducting regular audits and assessments of design outputs to ensure alignment with established guidelines and objectives. * Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, including executives and clients, to understand their needs and perspectives, and effectively communicate design strategies and outcomes. * Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design, incorporating them into our products and services. * Operational Excellence: Ensure workflow efficiency and alignment with Agile cycles, support creation of modern, client-focused digital solutions, and establish and track KPIs tied to design quality and usability. People Leader Responsibilities: * Manages a team of 3 * Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff. * Oversees the daily workflow of the department. * Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews. Identify areas for development and create plans to enhance team members' skills. * Uniformly identify high performers who consistently produce quality work. * Remove barriers for the team, ensuring team members have all the tools, resources, and context to execute. * Has a good understanding of their team's strengths and opportunities, capitalizing on their strengths and coaching opportunities. * Address challenges and conflicts that arise within the team or projects. Make decisions that balance various factors and contribute to the overall success of the organization. * Cultivate relationships with clients, partners, and other departments to facilitate collaboration and achieve common goals. * Provide direction, guidance, and support to a team of employees. Set clear expectations, delegate tasks, and ensure effective communication within the team. Education & Experience: Minimum required: * 7-10 years of digital product design experience * Experience in financial services preferred * Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Interactive Media, Human‑Centered Design, or related field Skills & Abilities: * Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, InVision) * Strong understanding of user‑centered design and usability * Experience conducting or collaborating in user research * Strong communication and collaboration skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy Other Requirements: * Typical schedule is [Monday-Friday, 8AM to 5PM CT; ability to work evening or weekend hours may be required during peak periods] * Employees within a 90-minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters are required to adhere to Company in-office work guidelines of 4 days per month minimum from 10 am to 2 pm (1 of the 4 days must be a Monday or Friday) * [Occasional/Frequent travel (up to 10%)] * Ability to provide personal transportation for training or meetings may be required * Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds * Prolonged periods of sitting and operating standard office equipment LI-Remote
