Job Description

The Manager - Reservoir Engineering will mentor and work with a high performing team, drive cross-discipline decisions, and convert subsurface understanding into free cash flow generation. Primary responsibilities include type curve governance, reserves assurance, field development planning, and value-driven surveillance and optimization across assets. This leader will bring unconventional shale expertise including parent/child interaction, lateral spacing and completion optimization, RTA/PTA/DFIT interpretation, DCA analysis, economics, and A&D workflows. The Reservoir Engineering Manager is part of the Reservoir and Asset Management team and works closely with executive leadership, finance, operations, land, and investor relations. The candidate must be flexible, detail-oriented, ambitious, self-starter and prepared to work for an organization with a large and diverse asset base. Target Responsibilities:• Lead integrated development planning for Marcellus and Utica assets. • Provide strategic insights into inventory life, development pacing, and portfolio optimization.• Integrate geological, geophysical, operational, and financial data into reserves and resource assessments.• Run integrated subsurface and economic reviews.• Provide technical diligence for A&D, inventory quality, and commercial fit.• Maintain technical standards (forecast methodology and governance, reserves controls, reservoir workflows, and data quality).• Establish and maintain type curves, decline models, and economic evaluations.• Coordinate and manage reserves and resources processes, third-party audits, quarterly reconciliations, and year-end bookings.• Oversee DCA and RTA workflows. Use PTA and DFIT analysis where applicable. Translate findings into spacing, completion stage design, and production management guidance. • Evolve completion designs and stimulation strategies for improved recovery and well productivity.• Guide parent/child mitigation strategies. • Leverage simulation and analytics to inform decisions.• Benchmark assets against internal metrics and peer operators.• Oversee forecasting tools, reserves software systems, and corporate reserves databases.• Ensure reserves classifications align with SEC regulations, SPE-PRMS, and internal governance standards.• Lead the annual SEC-compliant reserves process and reserves-based lending engineering reviews.Minimum Requirements:• B.S. in Engineering (Petroleum or related).• 8-12+ years of E&P reservoir engineering experience with a strong emphasis on unconventional shale gas.• 3-5+ years in technical leadership or people management.• Demonstrated expertise in: o Type curve creation, DCA, RTA, PTA, DFIT design/interpretation.o Shale development: spacing/stacking, parent/child risk mitigation, frac hit diagnostics, landing target selection, completion optimization.o Economic evaluation, sensitivity analysis, and capital ranking frameworks.o Reserves processes (SEC/PRMS), year end bookings, and auditor engagement.• Proficient in MS Suite, Harmony, and ARIES with understanding of databases (SQL, Oracle, Access).• Understanding of upstream, midstream, and A&D workflows for asset evaluation and management.• Strong knowledge of reservoir characterization, production forecasting, and reserve estimation techniques.• Strong team and relationship building skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to coach and mentor staff.Preferred Qualifications:• Prior Marcellus/Utica experience.• Familiarity with reserves, governance frameworks and internal controls required of public companies (SOX, audit processes).• Working knowledge of IHS (Fekete) products.• Working knowledge of Enersight.• Experience with SAP.• Experience with Peloton.• Experience with Enverus.• Familiarity with midstream interfaces, compression strategy, and line pressure impacts.• Knowledge of facilities and production operation constraints relevant to dry/residue gas systems.• Professional Engineering license.Providing Equal Employment OpportunitiesCNX provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, marital status or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
