Job Description

PGS Worldwide is seeking experienced CNC Machine Operators in Aiken, SC for a 5-month contract-to-hire role supporting 2nd shift (10-hour shifts) and Weekend shift (12-hour shifts). This position supports a major aerospace & defense company and focuses on precision machining and fabrication in a high-demand manufacturing environment. Operators will be responsible for meeting strict cost, quality, delivery, and safety targets while producing metal components to blueprint specifications. Required Skills Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC machine-controlled equipment in a metal cutting or metalworking environment Ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply shop math to calculate dimensions Experience using gauges and precision measuring tools to verify part quality Ability to load/unload parts and fixtures, applying up to 30 lbs of force and torque as required Understanding of machine controls, work orders, tooling, fixtures, and setup adjustments Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and take corrective action Experience operating hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts (forklift certification required) Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred Skills 2-year Machine Tool Technology degree 4+ years setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, or presses Experience with 3-axis machines (Mazak, Haas, Makino, Onsrud) Experience with 5-axis machines (Parpas, Cincinnati, Mitsubishi, Yama Seiki) Experience with water jet or laser cutting CNC equipment What You'll Do Set up and operate CNC machines using provided programs, tools, and fixtures Load and unload parts from pallets or containers and secure fixtures using hand and air tools Machine parts to blueprint and quality specifications Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend or implement corrective actions Complete work orders, labor tracking, quality records, and production documentation Move materials and fixtures using hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with safety policies Train other operators as needed and support continuous improvement efforts Job ID: 7270 "Military veterans and transitioning military members are encouraged to apply to all PGS Worldwide positions.
