Job Description

We are looking for an AWS Lex/Q Architect to design and build conversational AI solutions, primarily focusing on creating, implementing, and managing chatbots and virtual assistants. The role combines expertise in Amazon Lex (for conversational interfaces) and Amazon Q (for enterprise-grade generative AI) with broader cloud architecture knowledge. They are responsible for delivering human-like, secure, and scalable AI interactions for a variety of business needs, such as customer service, employee productivity, and business intelligence. Core responsibilitiesSolution architecture and design: Design end-to-end, multi-channel conversational AI solutions using Amazon Lex, Amazon Q, and other AWS services like Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Connect, Lambda, and DynamoDB.Conversational design: Collaborate with stakeholders to define the user experience (UX) and conversational flow for bots, including designing intents, utterances, slots, and prompts.Integration and implementation: Develop and implement the backend logic for conversational solutions, often using AWS Lambda functions, to integrate with enterprise data sources, third-party APIs, and other business systems.Generative AI integration: Architect and build solutions that leverage Amazon Q and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to connect large language models (LLMs) with a company's internal data for more accurate and contextual responses.Security and compliance: Ensure that AI solutions adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements, including proper data handling, encryption, and protection of sensitive information (PII).Performance optimization: Monitor and analyze bot performance, user behavior, and costs to continuously optimize and improve conversational experiences.Mentorship and guidance: Act as a technical expert for development teams, providing guidance on best practices, troubleshooting issues, and staying current with new AWS service features.Project management support: Work with project managers and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical specifications for the AI solution. Essential skills and qualificationsDeep AWS expertise: Extensive, hands-on experience with Amazon Lex and Amazon Q, along with a strong understanding of the broader AWS ecosystem, including Lambda, Bedrock, Connect, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and API Gateway.Conversational AI design: Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying chatbots, IVR systems, or virtual assistants.Generative AI knowledge: A solid understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), RAG, and how to integrate generative AI capabilities into enterprise applications.Programming proficiency: Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Java for developing and managing backend business logic.Problem-solving abilities: The ability to architect creative, scalable, and secure solutions that meet complex business requirements.Communication and collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desired qualificationsRelevant certifications: AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty.Enterprise experience: Experience working with enterprise-level applications, particularly in contact center environments using Amazon Connect.Automated design knowledge: Familiarity with the Amazon Lex Automated Chatbot Designer to help expedite the initial bot-building process.
