Grounds Control of Huntsville is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator with a strong background in site work, grading, and earthwork to join our growing team. This position plays a key role in evaluating project scope, developing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the success and profitability of our construction projects. Key Responsibilities: * Analyze project plans, specifications, and engineering drawings to determine the full scope of work, materials, and labor required. * Perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for all phases of site work and earthwork, including: * Earthmoving and excavation * Cut and fill analysis * Utilities and drainage * Erosion control and grading * Use Trimble Business software, PlanSwift, and other digital tools to generate detailed and competitive estimates. * Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services. * Prepare and submit professional bid proposals in alignment with client requirements and industry standards. * Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and kick-off meetings to gather field intelligence and enhance estimate accuracy. * Support project managers with cost tracking, value engineering options, and ongoing budget evaluations throughout the project lifecycle. * Collaborate with clients, engineers, architects, and internal teams to suggest cost-saving alternatives and innovative solutions. * Stay current on market pricing, material costs, and industry trends to ensure up-to-date and competitive estimates. Requirements: * 2-4+ years of proven experience as an Estimator in site work, grading, and/or earthwork projects. * Proficiency with Trimble Business software, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar estimating tools. * Strong understanding of civil construction methods, grading, drainage, and earthwork principles. * Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and engineering drawings with high accuracy. * Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. * Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with clients, vendors, and subcontractors. * Familiarity with local building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards. * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred (but not required).
