Job Title: Carrier Sales/Freight BrokerThe Carrier Sales/Freight Broker will be responsible for connecting shippers with carriers, managing customer relationships, and driving sales growth. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring timely and efficient transportation solutions.About MW Logistics: MW Logistics is an award-winning, privately held third-party logistics (3PL) provider with nearly 25 years in the industry. Specializing in Dedicated Freight, Freight Brokerage, Yard Management and Drayage services, we cover North America, including the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. We serve customers across various sectors, from packaged goods and retail to industrial supplies, and pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, tailored logistics solutions.Responsibilities:Drive daily and weekly load count, revenue and margin goals for MWLStrategically match, negotiate, and book carriers with available freightNegotiate rates with carriers to maximize profits and develop long term solutionsDevelop current carrier base for consistent lane specific volumes Verify all carriers go through the RMIS process to confirm they are qualified to haul for MWLEstablish and maintain carrier relationships for future capacity opportunitiesClarify load requirements with carriers, confirming drivers have proper information to pick-up/deliverMeet departmental and personal profit margin goalsMaintain carrier satisfaction and provide high quality service and work ethic while representing MWLManage order entry and create orders for customers through systems, phone, and email as needed.Follow customer SOPs during the booking and dispatching processEnsure all shipments are tracked according to company policy. Quickly and proactively resolve problems that arise while load is in transit Provide any required reporting to managementExercise discretion and independent judgement with respect to handling difficult situations and provide timely escalation and/or feedback to direct supervisor regarding service failures, customer complaints, or any other matters requiring attention. Maintain and Monitor service levels provided to MWL customers as requiredPromote brand awareness within current/existing carrier partnersFollow Accessorial Approval Processes when requesting AccessorialsPerforms other special projects and task as assigned (Based on business need) Professional Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's degree in marketing, logistics, supply chain or related field preferred. Must have minimum of 2 years demonstrated broker experience.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Excel and Word) Working knowledge of McLeod preferred Excellent written and verbal skills with emphasis on professional phone and email etiquette Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build positive relationships at all levels of a business (internally and externally) Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail High customer service orientationTeam player with proven ability to excel in a team-based environmentPossess a sense of urgency, flexibility and assertivenessAbility to multi-task, plan/prioritize and execute in a timely mannerAbility to handle a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities Quick learner with ability to receive and give clear instructions Demonstrates high level of professionalism, critical thinking and judgment to solve problems efficiently/effectively. A one-hour lunch between 11:00 am - 1:00pm as scheduled by department leadership to ensure ongoing coverage. As a 24/7/365 operation, must be available to work after hours, weekend and holiday hours as needed to meet work demands. Reports to: Director of Operations Physical requirements: Sedentary - Involves lifting articles weighing no more than 10 pounds at a time or occasionally lifting or carrying articles such as docket files, ledgers, or small tools; and despite involving sitting on a regular basis, may require walking or standing on an occasional basis.
