Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Associate Head of School serves as an instructional and relational leader within the Grammar School, supporting the mission of Regents through the formation, mentorship, and evaluation of faculty, and through partnership with students and families. Rooted in a classical approach to education, this role promotes age-appropriate pedagogy, intellectual virtue, and the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty in the classroom.Working under the direction of the Head of School and in close collaboration with the Grammar School leadership team, the Associate Head of School supports excellence in teaching and learning, fosters a culture of professional growth, and assists in cultivating a unified, Christ-centered community. This role requires wisdom, clarity in communication, and a pastoral heart for teachers and families, as well as a deep commitment to the mission and distinctives of classical Christian education.PRINCIPLES FOR CONDUCTING WORKPursue full devotion to Christ and live a life that reflects joyful obedience to Him.Model the fruits of the Spirit in communication, relationships, and daily work.Demonstrate teachability, a positive attitude, and a willing heart for service.Embody other-centered servant leadership in all interactions.Prioritize important, mission-driven work rather than the merely urgent.Maintain clear and gracious communication with students, colleagues, and parents.RESPONSIBILITIESFaculty Mentorship, Evaluation, and SupportObserve, evaluate, and encourage teachers using the approved Observation/Evaluation framework.Conduct a minimum of two formal teacher observations annually.Meet regularly with teachers, including one-on-one meetings, to support professional growth and instructional excellence.Onboard, mentor, and support new teachers throughout their transition into the Regents community.Proactively anticipate challenges teachers may encounter and provide guidance to minimize disruption and support success.Instructional Leadership and Student SupportDevelop meaningful relationships with students and families to support students' academic and social development.Collaborate with the Learning Specialist and Reading Specialist to support students.Ensure curriculum implementation aligns with developmental appropriateness and the mission of the school.Parent Partnership and CommunicationAssist teachers with parent communication, including emails, meetings, and conflict resolution as needed.Facilitate the resolution of parent concerns related to classroom instruction or teacher performance.Work alongside Grade-Level Team Leaders to support communication with parents and coordination of team initiatives, special events, and field trips.Establish and maintain consistent, clear communication practices through tools such as Week at a Glance.Collaboration and LeadershipMaintain clear and timely communication with teachers, parents, and the Grammar School Head.Meet weekly with the Grammar leadership team and at least bi-weekly with the Head of Grammar.Promote a healthy, mission-aligned school culture by sharing the good stories of the community.Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.Experience and SkillsEducation and Professional ExpertiseBachelor's degree required.Demonstrated mastery of pedagogical skills and best practices in the classroom.Competence in evaluating curriculum for age appropriateness and alignment with stages of child development.Ability to connect curriculum decisions to the unique mission, culture, and community of Regents.Leadership and Communication SkillsExceptional verbal and written communication skills.Ability to guide and support novice teachers through instructional and professional challenges.Confidence and flexibility to navigate the complexities of an educational leadership environment.Ability to strengthen institutional goals and implement school policies effectively.Faith, Character, and Professional ConductLifestyle and convictions that clearly demonstrate a Christian worldview.Commitment to conducting work with courtesy, kindness, and professionalism in all circumstances.Ability to prioritize work effectively based on urgency and importance.Strong commitment to confidentiality and compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).Dedication to fostering trust, unity, and a Christ-centered culture within the school community.Philosophy and Doctrinal StatementArticle IIChicago Statement on Biblical InerrancyNashville Statement: A Coalition for Biblical SexualityJob BenefitsAt Regents School of Austin, we are committed to attracting and retaining outstanding employees through a competitive compensation and benefits package.
