Job Description

The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) has two openings for current law school students interested in working as a Law Fellow within the Discovery Litigation and Compliance Unit.Job Responsibilities:Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant case and statutory lawAssist in the collection and receipt of discovery materials from the NYPD at a precinct level (i.e., command logs, memo books), DEA and other agenciesAssist in review and collection of Body-Worn Camera footageAssist in the organization of voluminous case filesAnalyze, redact and reproduce case documentsAbility to work independently, manage deadlines and adapt to changes in workflow processesOther duties and responsibilities as assignedQualifications::Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access); editing, redacting and converting documents in Adobe and experience using Lexis/Nexis and Westlaw applicationMust have strong attention to detail and a high concern for data accuracyAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentMust have excellent organization, communication, writing and problem solving skillsDetail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelinesMust be able to maintain a high degree of confidentialityFamiliarity with recent discovery reform procedures preferredAuthorization to work in the United States is required for this positionMinimum Educational Requirements:Bachelor's degree required and candidate can be in there first, second or third year of law school.Special Note: This is a part-time position for 10-25 hours per week with flexibility.Interview Materials: Applicants invited to interview must bring to the interview an official law school transcript, a writing sample, and a list of three professional references.Public Svc Loan Forgiveness:As a current or prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
