Antenna Team at Tesla is seeking a Staff Antenna Design Engineer to support antenna product development activities that cover a significant portion of the radio frequency spectrum from 100s of kHz to 10s of GHz. The successful candidate will utilize the knowledge of current systems, available technologies, and engineering judgment to propose and design next generation antenna systems for Infotainment, Low Voltage and Autopilot features. An exceptional antenna engineer should have a strong Electromagnetics background and apply first principles-based approach for the design, integration, test, and production of custom antenna solutions in a fast-paced product development environment. He/she will work closely with cross-functional teams and support other engineering teams to achieve quality and schedule targets. This engineer must thrive in a start-up company environment with great opportunities for growth and spectacular achievement. What You'll Do * Design, simulation, development, integration, and test of highly integrated custom antenna solutions * Lead antenna development work on emerging antenna technologies and establish performance specification * Lead de-sense and co-existence system level discussions from antenna team within the organization * Perform OTA and/or systems level measurements to support 5G, Wi-Fi , Bluetooth, GNSS and UWB antenna development * Simulation and prototyping of passive and active antennas using a representative platform to demonstrate/predict performance metrics and verify results are physically reasonable * Responsible for PCBA layout optimization get best performance and minimize electromagnetic interference * Work with suppliers on the design, testing and mass production of new antenna solutions * Closely work with mechanical, RF, EMC, electrical, material, reliability, integration, and factory engineers to create best-in-class integrated custom antenna solutions * Communicate engineering requirements to program and supply chain managers to facilitate material planning and schedule * Provide clear input to the project team on schedules, issues, and deliverables related to subsystem and vehicle development What You'll Bring * Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Electromagnetics or equivalent experience * 7+ years of solid technical depth in advanced Electromagnetics and Antennas * A track record of successfully bringing 5G, GNSS, Wi-Fi, UWB, Bluetooth integrated antenna designs to market * Extensive experience conducting OTA, co-existence and de-sense measurements for 5G, GNSS, Wi-Fi, UWB and Bluetooth * Fluent working experience with EM simulation tools and coding skills to support post-processing * Ability to communicate and drive suppliers ensuring successful product development at each phase * Truly self-driven, detailed oriented, focused and hands-on individual to solve engineering problems and deliver assigned tasks * Work closely with design, testing and manufacturing teams, and provide timely input * Seamless communication with cross functional team-members from multiple disciplines to reach fact-based decisions * Excellent data analysis, report writing, presentation skills, and desire to work in fast paced environment Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: * Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction * Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits * Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution * Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA * Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) * 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits * Company paid Basic Life, AD&D * Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) * Employee Assistance Program * Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays * Back-up childcare and parenting support resources * Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance * Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs * Tesla Babies program * Commuter benefits * Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $160,000 - $282,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
