General Job Description Job Summary The HVAC Helper assists HVAC Technicians and Installers with the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in the skilled trades and offers hands-on experience and on-the-job training in residential and light commercial HVAC systems across job sites in the Austin, Texas area. The HVAC Helper works closely with experienced technicians to support safe, efficient, and high-quality installation and service work while learning the fundamentals of the HVAC trade. Key Responsibilities Assist with the installation of HVAC systems, ductwork, and components under the supervision of a licensed HVAC technician. Carry tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites. Load and unload materials and assist with staging and preparing work areas. Clean and maintain HVAC systems, equipment, and job sites to ensure safe and efficient operations. Assist with measuring, cutting, and assembling ductwork using hand and power tools. Follow company safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and applicable building codes. Maintain and organize tools and equipment. Drive company vehicles when authorized and properly licensed. Communicate effectively with technicians, crew leads, and supervisors to complete assigned tasks. Demonstrate willingness to learn HVAC installation and service techniques. Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 0-2 Specific Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous construction or HVAC experience is a plus but not required. Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn a skilled trade. Valid driver's license preferred. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand safety procedures, work instructions, and communicate with team members. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops when required. Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms. Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and humidity. Ability to safely operate tools and equipment used in HVAC installation and service. Work Environment Work is performed primarily at residential and light commercial construction or service sites. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work may include attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and confined or dusty environments. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud due to equipment and tools. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required and provided when necessary. Travel to various job sites throughout the Austin, Texas area is required.
