With a focus on underserved markets, Breakaway delivers a premium two-day EDM/Pop festival experience - featuring an ever-evolving lineup of top artists - directly to where fans live, work, and play.THE ROLEBreakaway is seeking a highly organized and proactive HR Manager to serve as the central operational partner for our people and HR infrastructure. This role will oversee the day-to-day management of employee operations, including payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and HR systems, while supporting hiring and employee lifecycle processes across the company.You will be responsible for ensuring our HR operations run smoothly and efficiently as Breakaway continues to grow. This role will manage the administrative and compliance backbone of the company's people operations while supporting leadership and the recruiting team with hiring, onboarding, and employee management processes.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, resourceful, and comfortable managing both the operational and compliance aspects of HR. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys building structure, improving systems, and serving as a reliable operational partner across teams in a fast-moving company.This role will work closely with leadership and the recruiting function to ensure Breakaway's people operations remain organized, compliant, and scalable as the company grows.RequirementsRESPONSIBILITIESPayroll & CompensationManage bi-weekly payroll for employees and payments for contractors using RipplingEnsure accurate payroll processing, including wages, bonuses, reimbursements, and deductionsMaintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirementsCoordinate contractor payments and maintain contractor agreements and documentationEmployee Lifecycle ManagementHelp review offer letters and employment agreements Ensure onboarding processes are efficient and help oversee those processesSupport off-boarding logistics, including final payroll, documentation, and system access removalBenefits AdministrationManage and administer company healthcare, retirement, and additional benefits programsServe as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and supportOversee enrollments, changes, and annual benefits renewalsPartner with benefits brokers to maintain competitive and compliant offeringsHR Systems & ComplianceSupport and manage the company's Rippling HRIS systemMaintain accurate employee records and HR documentationEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local employment lawsFile required documentation with relevant tax and regulatory agenciesCoordinate and track required compliance trainings (e.g., harassment prevention, workplace policies)Hiring & Recruiting SupportPartner with the recruiting function to support hiring processesAssist with offer execution for new and existing employeesHR Operations & Employee SupportMaintain HR policies and the employee handbook in partnership with the current HR teamSupport performance review cycles and HR documentationServe as a point of contact for employee questions and HR-related requestsContinuously improve HR processes and systems to support company growthQUALIFICATIONS4-7+ years of experience in HR operations, people operations, or HR managementExperience managing payroll for employees and contractorsExperience administering benefits and HR systems (Rippling preferred)Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR complianceExceptional organizational and attention-to-detail skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretionComfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organizationPreferredExperience at a startup, agency, entertainment, or live events companyExperience managing multi-state payroll and complianceExperience supporting a contractor-heavy organizationBenefitsFlexible work environment Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) plan with employer matchingPaid Vacation Plans
