Job Description - Deli Team MemberPosition Title: Deli Team MemberDepartment: DeliReports To: Deli Manager / Shift LeadFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPosition OverviewThe Deli Team Member plays a key role in delivering excellent food quality and customer service within our deli department. This position is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food items, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and supporting overall deli operations. Flexibility, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are essential. Must be courteous and friendly. Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & CookingPrepare, season, cook, bake, grill, and fry food items according to company recipes and safety standards.Operate fryers, ovens, steam tables, and other kitchen equipment safely and correctly.Follow proper portioning and presentation guidelines.Assist with daily prep work, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients.Service & Customer InteractionServe customers at the steam table line with speed, accuracy, and a positive attitude.Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service line at all times.Answer customer questions about menu items and provide recommendations when appropriate.Dishwashing & CleaningWash dishes, utensils, pans, and equipment using proper sanitation procedures.Keep workstations, prep areas, and storage areas clean and orderly.Follow all sanitation, handwashing, and food-safety regulations.Operations & TeamworkAssist with opening and closing duties as assigned.Check temperatures, rotate stock, and ensure proper food storage.Communicate any product shortages or equipment issues to the shift lead or manager.Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while supporting other team members as needed.QualificationsPrior experience in a deli, cafeteria, or kitchen environment preferred but not required.Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.Able to lift up to 40 lbs and handle hot equipment safely.Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment.Work Environment & ScheduleFast-paced kitchen/deli environment requiring regular standing, lifting, bending, and reaching.No nights or weekends required. Monday-Friday only. Additional ExpectationsMaintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.Follow all company policies, including uniform and safety requirements.Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to quality food and service.
