Staff Accountant

Description Temp-to-Perm Opportunity Job Title: Staff Accountant Department: Finance / Accounting Reports To: Accounting Director Pay: $33-$40/hour Location: Fully Remote (Must be located in Minnesota, Ohio, or Nevada) Position Summary: The Staff Accountant supports daily accounting operations with a focus on transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial data accuracy. This role is ideal for a professional looking to build a strong foundation in capital expenditures, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close under close supervision. Key Responsibilities: Capital Expenditures (CapEx) + Assist with processing capital purchase orders and vendor invoices + Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation + Maintain basic capital asset and project tracking schedules + Assist with budget vs. actual comparisons and variance support Tax Abatement & Incentive Support + Assist with maintaining schedules related to tax abatements or incentives + Reconcile abatements to general ledger balances under supervision + Organize and retain supporting documentation Commissions & Accrual Support + Assist with commission calculations based on approved plans + Help prepare commission accrual support and documentation + Escalate discrepancies for review General Ledger & Close Support + Prepare basic journal entries with review and approval + Perform assigned balance sheet reconciliations + Support month-end and year-end close activities + Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely Controls & Learning + Follow established accounting policies and procedures + Support audit requests by gathering documentation + Participate in process improvement and training initiatives Requirements Required: + Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance + 4+ years experience + Fixed assets or property accountant experience + Basic understanding of GAAP principles + Advanced in Excel (formulas, reconciliations) + Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn + Must be located in Minnesota, Ohio, or Nevada Preferred: + Experience with Quickbooks and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
