The Director of People and Culture serves as the senior People and Culture leader for the property - a strategic partner to the Managing Director and Property Leadership Team. This role champions a people-first culture while ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and alignment with Makeready's Guiding Principles.Requested TasksLead all People + Culture operations in alignment with Makeready standards and policiesPartner closely with the Corporate Director of People + Culture on audits, initiatives, and strategic programsDrive continuous improvement efforts to strengthen people practices and organizational effectivenessLead and mentor on-property People + Culture team members (if applicable)Coach department leaders on People best practices and leadership effectivenessGuide leaders in effective recruiting, interviewing, and selection practicesBuild and maintain strong candidate pipelines through proactive recruiting and community engagementEnsure a consistent, hospitality-driven candidate and onboarding experiencePartner with leadership to drive high levels of team member engagementOversee engagement survey action planning and executionAdvise on performance management, corrective action, and development planningEnsure investigations and terminations are handled appropriately and escalated when necessary/Maintain strong knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirementsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local labor lawsOversee accurate documentation of employee relations matters, leaves, and accommodationsSafeguard confidentiality and integrity of all team member informationServe as a culture ambassador across meetings, interviews, onboarding, and daily operationsRequested CapabilitiesPrior experience as a property-level People + Culture Director or Manager requiredStrong knowledge of Human Resources practices, employment law, and employee relationsExperience leading and developing People + Culture or HR teams preferredProven ability to build trusted partnerships with executive and operational leadersProficiency in Microsoft Office and OutlookHighly organized, detail-oriented, and analyticalExceptional discretion and ability to manage confidential informationStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsProfessional, emotionally intelligent leadership styleAbility to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 poundsCommitment to adhering to Makeready's Guiding Principles and property policies and proceduresAs part of the Makeready collection, we proudly offer a variety of thoughtful benefits and perks for eligible team members including accommodating PTO/PTO exchange, medical/dental/vision benefits, maternity/paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care & 401k, student loan repayment program and a wide range of additional ancillary benefits.
