Job Description

Primary Purpose:Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district.Education/Certification:Valid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills: Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipment Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools Acceptable driving record Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English Ability to communicate with others in English Experience:NoneMajor Responsibilities and Duties: Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields, by watering and applying fertilizer Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds Plant shrubs and vegetation Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including lining fields Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems Operate a variety of equipment and machines including lawn mower, sweeper, edger, nail and screen drag equipment and other grounds maintenance equipment and tools. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment Complete repairs as requested on work orders or by Director of Facilities and Construction Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc for special events. Assist in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems to assure proper and safe operating conditions. Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed Hang pictures, mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as required Install door and window assemblies and hardware, including window glass and screens Install ceiling and flooring materials Operate light truck to transport furniture and equipment throughout district Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
