Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington that provides the LGBTQ+ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. CAP's mission is to promote well-being and advance equity by providing inclusive health and wellness services for LGBTQ+ people, people affected by HIV, and all those seeking compassionate care. Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Director of Strategic Communications. The Director of Strategic Communications leads the organization's strategic communications, brand positioning, and external engagement strategy. This role shapes how CAP is perceived by funders, partners, media, and the broader community by developing and executing a compelling organizational narrative, overseeing strategic communications across all channels, and guiding community engagement activities that strengthen visibility, trust, and impact.This is a Full-Time role working at our Davis St. location in the Old Town area of Portland OR. The schedule for this role is 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. CAP works on hybrid schedule; 3 days in office, and 2 days work from home. Some nights and weekends maybe required. The Director of Strategic Communications pay is $125,000.00 a yearWho You Are 5-8+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, brand development, or organizational communications in nonprofit, healthcare, or social services organizations. Demonstrated success developing and executing organizational brand strategy and translating organizational mission/impact into compelling public-facing narratives. Strong ability to translate program outcomes into compelling written narratives and communications materials. Excellent relationship-management skills with a track record of stakeholder engagement (media, partners, funders, community members). Exceptional project management skills: ability to manage multiple deadlines, stakeholders, and deliverables simultaneously. Strong cross-functional collaboration experience, especially with program, finance, operations, and leadership teams.What You'll Do Leads organizational brand, narrative, and overall communications strategy Ensures clear, consistent messaging across external, fundraising, community, and internal change communications Partners closely with executive leadership as a strategic communications advisor Translates organizational impact into compelling stories for funders, partners, staff, and the community Guides communications during periods of change to strengthen trust, alignment, and credibility Serve as a key strategic partner with the executive leadership of Programs, Finance, Operations, and the Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships to align organizational messaging, impact measurement, and communications strategy.At Cascade AIDS Project, we believe in unlocking potential.
