Title: Certified Recovery Peer Advocate Unit: Admissions/N.E.S.T. Recovery CenterReports to: Admissions Director Salary: $30.22 per hour [Approximately $55,000 Annually] Status: Full Time; Regular, Non-ExemptLocation: Long Island City and throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC Position SummaryThe Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) will function as a role model, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills, serve as an advocate providing peer support and resources for clients served. Core CompetenciesMission, and Fit - The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) must embody the values and mission of the Fortune Society. This includes meeting our participants where they are in the recovery process, demonstrating our values through compassion and understanding; and affirming that none of us should be measured against the worst things we have done. Attention to Detail - The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) must demonstrate the ability to develop systems and processes to organize and monitor information and work progress. They are routinely conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks. The CRPA recognizes trends, detects inconsistencies, and identifies essential details.Collaboration - The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) will work collaboratively with community-based organizations (CBOs) that serve individuals currently using opioids and/or stimulants in treatment, as well as those needing peer-delivered recovery services across the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Community navigation and advocacy to enhance access to treatment services, mental health care, physical health care, social services, and other support systems. Wellness and recovery planning. Peer mentoring, role modeling, and assistance in developing coping skills. Education and support for accessing telehealth services. Education on pathways to recovery and guidance on accessing services and supports. Assistance with reentry from the criminal justice system.Qualifications: Applicants must be fully certified or provisionally certified as a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA). Ability to obtain and maintain Justice Center fingerprinting clearances as required by contract and state regulations. Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience and/or interest in working with a culturally diverse population within an addiction treatment setting.
