The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef with the preparation, cooking and presentation of all food prepared in order to satisfy and exceed the expectations of Simply Plated Customers.About Simply Plated CateringSimply Plated is a full service catering and meal delivery company in Columbus, Ohio DescriptionPosition Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for upholding the highest standards in terms of food quality for all menu items prepared. The Kitchen Assistant has the responsibility of making sure all kitchen and storage areas, equipment and supplies are clean, tidy and well maintained at all times and will have knowledge of Health, Safety and Food Hygiene rules and regulations in order to work in a manner that complies with them at all times. This position is part time with occasional evening and weekend shifts.We are currently looking for candidates with flexible availability Monday-Friday from 7am-3pm and occasional evenings and weekends. (With additional opportunities for hours on the weekends based on catering bookings)Role & Responsibilities:• The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for helping the Executive Chef in the operation of the Simply Plated's Catering and Meal Delivery Services.• Perform basic food preparation tasks such as prepping ingredients (slicing,peeling and cutting), sauces, salads and sandwiches based on Simply Platedrecipes• Properly clean and store ingredients upon their delivery to the kitchen, prior to production, in accordance with proper food safety standards• Assist Executive Chef with the preparation, packaging and labeling of catering,meal delivery and retail products order prior to delivery• Adhere to kitchen opening and closing procedures in order to ensure propercleanliness prior to food production and after.• Wash utensils and dishes and store all equipment appropriately• Operate various kitchen tools and equipment properly and in a safe mannerFollow all cleaning procedures and checklists to ensure kitchen and all kitchen equipment maintains appropriate cleaning standards.• Assist with drop-off catering deliveries as needed, which includes the successfuldelivery and setup of catering orders to Simply Plated standards• Other duties as assignedBenefits:Flexible SchedulePaid HolidaysBonus Eligibility (Based on personal and business performance)Discounts on Catering and Meal Delivery ServicesRequirements Required Qualifications:• Must be 18 years of age with High School diploma or equivalent• Authorized to work within the U.S• Ability to display initiative and work with limited supervisionPreferred Qualifications• Background in catering, high volume or fine dining restaurant establishment.• One (1) or more years of cooking experience in a high volume / banquet setting.• Strong attention to operational and administrative detailOur Physical Requirements• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds• Must be able to push up to 50 pounds• Must be able to work standing and walking for extended periods of time• Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.Salary $15 - $18 per hour
