Reports To: General Manager SUMMARY: Responsible for testing PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies ie circuits), trouble-shooting failed circuits, documenting test results, breadboard new prototype customer designs, and analyzing design failures as detailed below. Uses test equipment noted below along with a microscope and soldering iron. Up to 50% of the time, employee will tend, manipulate, control and handle precision machinery, tools, objects and/or materials. Position requires reading/writing in English to understand complex material such as reading schematics and technical data sheets, instructional manuals, procedural manuals, warning labels, etc., and to record basic written information such as completing forms, and making engineering procedures. Responsibilities: * Testing * Test circuits using test fixtures with equipment including DMM, O-scope, LCR bridge, PCs, power supplies, etc.) * Fabricate and repair test fixtures * Trouble-shoot failed circuits * Analyze failures and document testing results * Software programing experience with understanding sufficient to support testing and for loading customer furnished firmware or software on programable logic devices * Design * Interpreting functional circuit block diagrams related to schematic designs * PCB layout using CAD * Evaluating test node coverage on PCBA designs * Manages prototypes built using customer designs with schematics and bill of materials * Write ATPs (Acceptance Test Procedures) from customer requirements documents * repair equipment/fixtures * Supervision * Supervise staff of two engineering technicians accomplishing the tasks delineated above * Collaborates closely with the QA Manager and General Manager on projects, processes, and people encompassing the above activities Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 years in a related field or an Associate Technical Degree with 10 years of experience in PCB layout and troubleshooting. Extensive direct PCBA experience with an Associates Technical Degree or equivalent and more than 10 years can substitute for BS degree. Additional skills that are a plus include knowing CAD software, SPICE Analysis, or LabView scripting. Ability to work in small groups internal and external to company. This position is very hands on working in a dynamic collaborative environment.
