Job Description

ARES is seeking an engineer to support NASA's Orion Program as a Cabin Integration Engineer onsite at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The Orion Program is part of the Moon to Mars initiative that will return astronauts to the lunar surface and prepare for a trip to Mars. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal oversight, proactively take initiative, and maintain a high level of attention to detail in all tasks. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to ask questions and seek clarification when needed, and the capability to adapt in a dynamic environment. The candidate must be comfortable collaborating across teams and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences. ResponsibilitiesThe Orion Cabin Integration Engineer will:Apply systems engineering principles and techniques to establish and perform systems integration activities such as requirements management, architectural design, author and review technical and engineering documents, memos, and presentations, and perform model-based systems engineeringManage the integration of Interface Requirements Documents and Interface Control Documents for the Orion program, notably in the interface with the Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) programIntegrate the Orion program's Operations and Maintenance Requirements and Specifications in collaboration with external contractors and the NASA teamUtilize comprehensive understanding of the NASA human spaceflight program life cycle to perform Orion system integration activities, such as authoring and reviewing integrated technical and engineering documentsEstablish working relationships with NASA leads, system managers, commercial teammates, and international partners to lead systems integration activitiesProvide technical systems knowledge and expertise during major project milestones and reviews to ensure systems can meet operational needs and supportability requirementsIncorporate process improvement initiatives that promote the progression of SE&I expertise within a more digitized SE&I environmentBuild an understanding of the product life cycle to perform concept trade studies, requirements management, test & verification, and modeling and analysisPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsThis position is posted at multiple levels. Required Education/Experience/Skills:BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus five (5) years of appropriate work experienceApplied working knowledge of product life cycle development, systems engineering & integration principals associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systemsExcellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination, and presentation skillsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholdersAbility to independently manage multiple tasks concurrentlyProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:Project management or other leadership experienceINCOSE System Engineering Professional CertificationMaster of Science degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent engineeringKnowledge of systems, tools, or initiatives that promote the digitization of the systems engineering discipline, such as requirements management software (DOORS, DNG, JAMA, etc.), workflow management software (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), model based systems engineering software (Cameo, MagicDraw, etc.), or other digital tools (SharePoint, Confluence, etc.)Experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiativesAbility to independently manage multiple tasks concurrentlyEssential Requirements:Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigationPass a drug testWork may involve sitting for extended periodsMust have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessaryGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on taskStandard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is criticalAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when requiredMust be able to work in a team atmospherePresent as professional behavior that represents the company valuesThis position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as neededARES Benefits:ARES offers a competitive compensation and benefit package.
