We aim to deliver sustainable, profitable growth to provide our shareholders with a superior return on their investment, while providing our employees with a safe workplace where they are recognized, developed and properly rewarded.Purpose: The HSE and Quality Manager will ensure full safety of all individuals working at the lab including employees, visitors and contractors, and full compliance with Vesuvius and local health, safety and environmental policies.This also includes ensuring that standard processes are in place and are followed and are support by a robust training program.Direct Reports:The position does not have direct reports but each R&D team will have a safety committee member who will support the role. Dimensions of Position:Person will be responsible for the safe working environment for 60+ employeesPosition will be expected to improve the site safety audit score each year in alignment with the corporate requirements Key Results:Manages the safety program and enforcement for employees and contractorsMaintains safety databases and reportingEnsures compliance with group and local safety standards including DHS compliance and leads improvement plan for corporate audit scoreTranslates corporate safety guidelines into best implementation strategies for an R&D environment including but not limited to IO's, audits, ergonomic assessments and other Safety Breakthrough initiativesLeads 8D investigations on dangerous occurrences and injuriesProvides safety training on new safety and established safety initiatives including tracking staff trainingMaintains and controls written operational procedures for equipment and test method procedures following established visual standard templateManages equipment and training information control through KPA system (formerly Sharepoint platform)Ensures new equipment is compliant with site safety protocol including Risk/Ergonomic Assessment, LTT, and safety audits before commissioningManages calibration programLeads safety committee meetingsMonitors and stays educated about environmental laws and regulations around workplace safety and policies of other sites Main Interactions - Internal:ContactFrequencyPurposeSite ManagerDailyAlignment and informingLab Manager, Operations Coordinator & Maintenance TechniciansDailyCooperation on support functionsRegional and Corporate Safety ManagementAs neededObtain information on purchasing and paymentsEngineers and TechniciansDailySupport operations and meet needsMain Interactions - External:ContactFrequencyPurposeVendors and external consultantsAs neededPricing and purchase detailsQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent at minimum.Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred.Experience:If no degree, related laboratory experienceManaging HSE rules and regulationsFamiliarity with industrial equipment function and operationKnowledge:HSE policies and complianceKnowledge of training practices and implementationFamiliarity with electronic platforms for management of dataSkills & Behavior:Ability to lead and proactively manage in times of crisisExcellent communication skillsAbility to work well with othersAbility to build relationships with technicians, engineers, and managersCritical thinking using logic and reasoningProficient with Microsoft Office productsAccepting of other culturesProblem Solving & Complexity:Routine operational decisionsWould raise higher level issues to Site Manager Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
