This senior-level position requires extensive expertise in all aspects of heavy-duty diesel truck repair, diagnostics, and the ability to mentor junior technicians.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair complex diesel engine problems including electronic fuel systems, turbochargers, and emissions controlsPerform advanced diagnostics on transmissions, differentials, and drivetrain componentsTroubleshoot and repair sophisticated electrical systems and multiplexed networksExecute complex brake system repairs including ABS, air disc brakes, and electronic stability controlRepair and rebuild suspension systems, steering components, and air ride systemsLead diagnostic efforts on difficult or unusual repair scenariosMentor and train junior mechanics and apprenticesPerform comprehensive DOT inspections and ensure regulatory complianceReview and approve work performed by other techniciansMaintain manufacturer certifications and stay current with evolving technologiesProvide technical support and guidance to service advisorsEstimate repair costs and timeframes for complex jobsSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseMinimum 7-10 years experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanicMultiple ASE Master Technician certifications (T-series required)Comprehensive knowledge of all major truck brands and systemsExpert-level proficiency with diagnostic software and scan toolsProven track record of complex problem-solving and troubleshootingStrong leadership and communication skillsAbility to read wiring diagrams, technical service bulletins, and schematicsValid driver's license with clean recordOwn comprehensive set of professional toolsPreferred QualificationsASE Master Heavy Duty Truck Technician certificationCDL Class A or B licenseManufacturer-specific certifications (Cummins, Detroit, Paccar, etc.)Experience with alternative fuel systems (CNG, electric, hybrid)Welding and fabrication capabilitiesPrevious shop foreman or lead technician experienceTechnical school degree or equivalent
