If you're looking for a meaningful place to grow and make an impact, we want to hear from you!What You Will DoAs a Process Engineering Intern, you will work closely with the engineering team to support manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives.Manufacturing & Process SupportAssist process engineers in evaluating composite foam production methods, equipment performance, and material flowConduct time studies and collect production data to support labor standards and capacity analysisSupport troubleshooting of process variation impacting yield, scrap, cycle time, and qualityObserve and document process parameters, work instructions, and standard operating proceduresReview engineering drawings and validate Bill of Material data within ERP systemsEngineering Projects & Continuous ImprovementAssist with Design of Experiments (DOE) to evaluate materials and process parametersAnalyze production data to identify efficiency improvements and waste reduction opportunitiesParticipate in Lean manufacturing initiatives such as Gemba walks, 5S, and improvement projectsSupport updates to process flow diagrams, plant layouts, and engineering documentationAssist with data collection related to PFMEA reviews and control plan updatesPrepare presentations summarizing project findings and improvement recommendationsWhat You Will LearnThis internship is designed to provide hands-on engineering experience and professional development.You'll gain exposure to:Real manufacturing operations and engineering problem solvingData analysis and process optimizationLean manufacturing principles and continuous improvementDesign of Experiments (DOE) and statistical thinkingAutomotive quality systems and engineering documentationCross-functional collaboration with operations, engineering, and quality teamsWhat You BringEducationCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:Mechanical EngineeringChemical EngineeringManufacturing EngineeringIndustrial EngineeringMaterials Engineeringor a related engineering disciplineJunior, Senior, or recent graduate preferred3.0 GPA or higher preferredTechnical SkillsBasic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering fundamentalsExposure to statistics or Design of Experiments concepts preferredProficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)Exposure to Lean manufacturing principles is a plusFamiliarity with ISO 9001 or automotive quality systems is beneficialProfessional SkillsCurious and eager to learn in a hands-on manufacturing environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate technical information clearlyOrganized and capable of managing multiple projectsEEOCAt HSM, we believe that our diversity creates a productive workplace.
