Chief Operating Officer / Practice Operations Leader(Title flexible: COO, VP of Operations, Practice Director, Integrator) Confidential Physician-Owned Medical Practice Phoenix, AZ (On-site, Full-Time)The OpportunityA well-established, physician-owned primary care practice in Phoenix is hiring a hands-on operations leader to run the business side of a growing medical practice.This single-location practice has been operating successfully for over 20 years, generates $6M+ in annual revenue, and employs 30+ staff with a multi-physician care team. The practice is stable, respected, and growing intentionally-not through rapid expansion, but through operational excellence.This role exists to partner with the Owner-Physician and take full ownership of daily operations, people leadership, and execution, allowing clinical leadership to focus on patient care and strategy.This is not a corporate healthcare role. This is not a desk-only administrator position. This is a present, decisive, execution-oriented leadership role.What You'll Be Responsible ForPractice OperationsLead day-to-day clinic operations across front office, back office, and clinical support teamsEnsure smooth patient flow, staffing coverage, and operational readinessAnticipate recurring operational needs without constant directionPeople Leadership & AccountabilityServe as the primary operational leader for staffHandle employee issues, performance management, onboarding, and offboardingCoach and develop supervisors and team leadsAct as the first escalation point for operational and people-related issuesWorkflow, Data & ImprovementUse Excel and basic reporting to track performance and identify improvement opportunitiesImprove operational workflows and clinic efficiency without sacrificing care qualityPartner with leadership to support revenue cycle accountability and documentation qualityStrategic ExecutionExecute priority initiatives tied to growth and efficiencySupport onboarding of additional providers as the practice growsAssist with operational planning for new service lines (e.g., behavioral health)What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)Owner-Physician is largely removed from daily operational distractionsClear accountability rhythms and expectations are establishedImproved workflow efficiency and staff engagementData and reporting are used consistently to guide decisionsOperations run smoothly, predictably, and professionallyRequired Experience & SkillsMust-HavesHealthcare operations leadership experience (private practice or ambulatory care preferred)Hands-on management experience-not just oversightStrong communication and people-leadership skillsProficiency in Excel and basic analyticsAbility to work on-site and lead from the floorReliable attendance and schedule flexibilityNice-to-HavesExperience in physician-owned or entrepreneurial healthcare environmentsFamiliarity with revenue cycle fundamentalsBackground in family medicine, internal medicine, or multispecialty clinicsExperience reporting directly to an owner or founderWork Environment & ScheduleOn-site, full-time role (Phoenix area)Clinic-based schedule (generally Monday-Friday)Occasional early or extended days based on operational needsCompensation & BenefitsBase Salary: $110,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience)4 weeks PTO + holidays401(k) with employer matchEmployer-paid health insurance (medical)Vision, dental, and other benefits availableWho This Role Is (and Isn't) ForThis role is for you if you:Like owning outcomes, not just tasksAre comfortable making decisions and holding people accountablePrefer a fast-moving, people-centric environmentWant real responsibility without corporate bureaucracyThis role is not for you if you:Need constant direction or rigid structurePrefer remote or hybrid workAvoid difficult conversationsCome from large systems and struggle in lean environments
