Job Description

DescriptionSupport implementation of advanced manufacturing education programs in order to attract and provide high school students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training to succeed in future careers as skilled manufacturing engineers and technicians. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:Collaborate with regional manufacturers to coordinate and prepare workforce assessments Work with high school principals, educators and guidance counselors in the development of strategic plans to provide manufacturing vocational career pathways and curricula offerings based on regional workforce needs.Participate in developing, coordinating and implementing curriculum plans which complement local workforce needsOversee and resource technology integration, information, communication and training plans for students Facilitate efforts to engage corporate and manufacturing partners with educators and studentsCollect and organize data reports and surveys from participating schoolsCoordinate professional development training sessions for educatorsAssist in planning launch events and other engagement activities involving students, educators and manufacturer partnersManage program budgets and coordinate acquisition and delivery of capital equipment, curricula, and other program expendituresServe as a resource to schools should they seek to develop articulation agreements and dual-credit opportunitiesDevelop strategies to build students' and parents' awareness of manufacturing career opportunitiesCreate presentations and represent the SME Educational Foundation before large groupsOther duties as assignedRequirementsMINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or higher level in a field of study related to manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology or STEM education ORHold a valid secondary (7-12) teaching license in an Engineering or Technology related field, or a valid CTE Educator License within manufacturing courseworkAt least 5 years of occupational experience in education or advanced manufacturing involving one or more competencies, including CNC machining, welding and fabrication, robotics, CAD/CAM, mechatronics or engineering, with demonstrated experience in career developmentProficiency with word processing and spreadsheet softwareExcellent organization, time management and written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team environment and interact with staff and external partnersAble to work in fast-paced, multi-task environmentKEY COMPETENCESCore Competencies:Communication and CollaborationRelationship ManagementProfessionalism and IntegrityCritical Thinking and Decision-MakingExecutionInitiative, Leadership, and DevelopmentJob Competencies:Advanced Manufacturing Acumen or Career and Technical Education AcumenProgram Planning and Delivery Curriculum DevelopmentProgram Budget and Resource Management Education Program Compliance and Reporting Data-Informed Program EvaluationExternal Presentation and Program FacilitationWORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environmentLocated in Southfield, MIRegular, in-person attendance requiredTravel required
