Please see for more information. 2026 summer camps run from June 15 to July 24.SUMMER PLAYGROUND SUPERVISORREPORTS TO: Summer Camp Coordinator and Program ManagerGIVES DIRECTION TO: Summer Playground Counselors and volunteersNATURE OF WORKThis seasonal position directs the recreational activities for children in grades K - 3. The camp runs for six weeks in the summer (June 15 to July 24), Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at four of the elementary schools. Work is performed with independent judgment under the general supervision of the Summer Camp Coordinator and the Program Manager. This position is not eligible for paid sick hours due to being a six week, seasonal position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Meets with staff during In-Service training to develop a themed activity calendar for the summer.Supervises camp counselors, the Art Supervisor and volunteers in daily camp activities and Friday field trips.Divides children up into age appropriate groups and assigns them to a camp counselor.Records daily attendance for campers. Documents staff and volunteer hours.Communicates with parents on a daily basis at check in and dismissal.Completes Incident and/or Accident Reports when necessary. Responds to emergency situations in a timely manner.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Performs all other work as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESClear understanding of recreational department activities and procedures.Interpersonal skillsREQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.Experience organizing youth activities is preferred.CPR/AED and First Aid preferred.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONSWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand: walk, bend, stoop; use hands to handle or feel equipment and supplies. The employee will need to be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 3 hours. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds.
