Job Description

As a Wastewater Operator, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the wastewater treatment (WWT) system at the Gainesville facilities. This role involves performing various laboratory and field tests to ensure safe working conditions and producing top-quality output with minimal disruptions. Effective communication with co-workers, superiors, and other teams/departments is essential.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonitor and maintain the WWT systemPerform various laboratory and field tests to ensure quality resultsMonitor, calculate, and adjust chemical dosages within the WWT systemAssist with chemical loading and off-loading (bulk and tote)Assist with hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection, loading, and documentationUtilize power washers and other tools to clean WWT equipment thoroughlyConduct basic preventative maintenanceTroubleshoot pumps, tools, chemical streams, and other equipment to prevent safety, environmental, quality, or productivity issuesRespond to major spills as a member of the spill response teamConduct periodic safety and quality risk assessments and lead or assist with implementing corrective actions to lower risksMaintain a 5S compliant workstationSupport ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirementsPerform special projects and related tasks as neededEssential Skills and ExperienceActive GA WWT Operator License (Industrial/Class 3 or greater)English language competency and legible writing abilityBasic math skillsBasic chemistry skillsBasic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Self-starter with the ability to work independentlyAbility to obtain Kubota LOTO, Confined Space Entry certification within 90 daysAbility to obtain Kubota sit down forklift certification within 90 daysSuccessful PFT evaluation or ability to pass the PFT requirement within 90 daysHAZWOPER and DOT certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 monthsPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience working in confined spacesExperience conducting laboratory tests (titrations, metal concentrations, etc.)Experience working in a manufacturing environmentWorking ConditionsThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
